Lighthouse Point

Those of you who know me know that I am fascinated by lighthouses.  There is something about a building, often on a cliff or in a remote area at the edge of the sea, shining a light to guide ships and keep them safe.  A "guiding light"...such a special and much-needed abode.

In fact, several years ago, my kids gave my husband and me a night in a lighthouse for our anniversary.  We drove to the San Francisco Bay, took a skiff (little boat) to a very small island in the middle of the Bay, and disembarked at the East Brother Lighthouse.  We had a wonderful tour of the lighthouse, had a magnificent dinner and a fabulous breakfast the next day.  The lighthouse and it's keepers were charming and beautiful - perfect in every way...except...we were there on March 27, just before the foghorn stops blaring every 30 seconds for the summer!  So it was not the most restful night 😕 but it WAS a fabulous experience, and one which I will never forget!

Today's card features Lighthouse Point and the Lighthouse dies:

I made this card for my dad for Father's Day.  I framed a small piece of New Horizons Designer Series Paper with Night of Navy cut with the new Deckled Rectangles dies.  This was added to the Thick Basic White card base, topped with a piece of Basic White that was embossed with the Into the Clouds embossing folder.

I used the Lighthouse dies to cut the lighthouse - a Night of Navy base with an overlay of Basic White.

The greeting was stamped in Night of Navy ink and cut with another of the dies in the set.  And a few of the now-retired Waves Rhinestones were added for a little bling.

This set of stamps and dies will be used often to remind me of a very special night!
