Laughing Friends

Do you have a special friend with whom you just love to laugh?  When I saw Young At Heart it reminded me of late night laughs with my sister.  Then I got to thinking of a number of friends for whom this would be perfect:

Now admittedly, this is a card for the (ahem) "mature" friend.  No matter how you color it, it's hard to make these ladies into, shall we say, spring chickens?  But it suits me just fine.

The Coastal Cabana base was embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  The Whisper White rectangle was cut with Stitched Rectangle dies.  And the oval, cut with the Layering Ovals dies was embossed with the Tufted embossing folder.

My ladies were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and colored with blends.

And this says it all:

Who doesn't need a friend like this?

Young At Heart makes me feel young!

Kylie's International Highlights Winners Blog Hop

Welcome to Kylie Bertucci's International Highlights Winners Blog Hop!  I am so excited to have been chosen to participate; thank you for stopping by.

Our theme this month was "encouragement".  I've chosen to feature a stamp from Sweetly Swirled. And here's my card:

I only wish I could truly capture the "sparkle" of this card!

A Basic Gray card base (cut to 5-1/4" square) has a layer of the gorgeous new Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper.  One side of this beautiful paper is photographic imagery of winter scenes while the other side has designs with silver foil.

This phrase was stamped in Versamark ink on Basic Black cardstock and embossed with the new Shimmer White embossing powder.  There are little sparkles of glitter right in the embossing powder so it really shines!

The Stitched Shapes square is set onto a layer of Silver Glimmer Paper which is set inside a frame of Silver Foil cut with Frosted Frames dies.  Do you think I used enough silver?  ðŸ˜„

A few extra leaf embellishments in black (cut with the same dies) and the 5/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon finish off my card.

But wait!  There's more:

Just had to finish off the inside with a few more of the leaves in Basic Gray.  We hate to send a naked card on the inside, right?

Check out the Feels Like Frost Suite; it will have you dreaming of a White Christmas!

To continue on the hop, just click the next name on the list above.  And thanks for visiting!

Deer in the Yard, and Deer on a Card

We've been having some regular visitors to our yard at our new home, and I'm loving it!

Sometimes he brings his mama:

But now that we've started our landscaping (and have a new fence) their visits are a little less frequent.  I hope they'll continue to visit once the landscaping is done.

Our little friends have inspired this card:

Sigh...LOVE!

I reached back to an older stamp set (but still in the current annual catalog) - Dashing Deer.  I was working with the gorgeous new designer series paper, Brightly Gleaming, and inspiration struck.

Yes, I know there is no such thing as a copper deer, but I love the Delicata Celestial Copper ink on Night of Navy cardstock...so beautiful!

Baby deer is also stamped in Celestial Copper, and both creatures were cut out with the Detailed Deer dies.  And see that sentiment?  Stamped on Vellum with Night of Navy ink and heat embossed with Clear emboss powder to give a nice shine.

Although it only looks like a few white patches on these trees, they actually are covered in Shimmery Crystal Effects with some Ice Stampin' Glitter and are very glittery.  They are from the Rooted in Nature set and cut with the Nature's Roots dies.

A Whisper White layer was layered with two pieces of Vellum, torn to look like snow drifts.  There's a thin line of Wink of Stella across the tops of each piece, which when held in the light looks like sparkling snow.

I do hope we continue to enjoy visits from these lovely animals.  And in the meantime, I'll enjoy playing with these stamps!
