A Double-Point Card

Have you heard of the Double-Point Card?  It's a card with two "points" that open to reveal the inside of the card.  Take a look:

This was a Card Club card this month.  It uses On the Ocean stamps and dies, along with some retired DSP.

The card base is just a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of cardstock (Blueberry Bushel here).  There is a layer of DSP (4" x 5-1/4") on top.  And then the fun...

The top layer is adhered to the two "points" that cover the top and bottom of the card, and fold up and down to reveal the inside.

The card was also a technique card - the clouds were made by using a Blending Brush over a template made with the Basic Borders dies and Balmy Blue ink.  The sky fades to "ocean" also blended with the brushes.  And then there are the waves.

Two dies create the waves - one makes the bottom, solid layer, and the other cuts the details to layer on top.  I love the look.

Fully opened, the points are completely opened and the inside of the card is seen.

You can create the points by cutting a piece of cardstock 4" x 3" (you need two pieces for the top and bottom).  Score along the long side at 1".  Then find the center and fold the the short sides to the center below the 1" score line, creating the point.  Glue the side pieces down, then adhere the 1" side to the DSP prior to adding it to the card base.

The points can also be made from coordinating DSP, giving your main panel a "frame".

A fun fun-fold!

Country Wreaths for a Back-Fold Card

 Here's a very simple fun-fold card - a Back-fold Card:

From the front this looks like an ordinary side-opening card.  But see that skinny strip on the right?  It's actually scored  to fold backwards, lifting the panel on the front (with the wreath) to open the card.

Start with a piece of 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" cardstock, and score it at 3-1/4" and 6-1/2".  The left side of the card closes as usual, but is a little thinner than normal - it folds up to the 6-1/2" score line.  Then the 1" on the end is what folds backwards.

See?  Now picture a piece of Basic White cardstock on the right side, under the flap - you see that right?  😁

That is where you would write your greeting and sign your card.

Back to the front:

We used Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper to decorate the front of the card, layered on Night of Navy.  The card base is Boho Blue.

And then that wreath - two layers of die-cut wreaths using the Country Wreaths dies.  Very easy to layer!  The bow is another die in the set and adds the wow factor in Petal Pink!

So pretty!

Don't forget about some of our older dies and stamp sets!  Country Wreaths have been around for a while, but are fresh and new in new colors!  And of course, they are perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

Daisies and Phrases for All

So HOT!  A perfect time to hunker down in the craft room and create - cuz there isn't much we can do outside!

Actually here in Oregon, it's very warm, but not sweltering.  In fact I just came in from doing a little work in the garden.  But I know MANY of my family and friends, especially those in the Sacramento Valley of California, are suffering under the relentless heat.  Good thing I had a Cards-by-Mail offering this past week!  😁  Those who received the cards can sit inside and stamp!  You're welcome!

So here is one of the cards they received; we also made this card at my in-person class last week.  It's quite simple and very elegant!

This card combines the stamps from Phrases for All with some die-cut daisies using the Cheerful Daisies dies.  AND let's not overlook the pretty gingham background!

What do I love about Phrases for All?  Those large greetings (there are four in the set) paired with the little "descriptive" phrases ("you're all kinds of amazing", "confetti & cake for your happy day", and a few others) are so fun!

Stamped in Pretty Peacock (the skinny line was stamped in Lemon Lime Twist) on a Basic White Deckled Rectangle, this sets the stage for this lovely card.

And then those daisies!  LOVE!  Die cut, and then sponged for a touch of color, they are adhered to the Glorious Gingham layer.  Just a few Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins to finish it off.

This card can be used for all kinds of occasions by changing out the greeting - my favorite kind of card!
