Playing with Daisies

Have you seen all the samples of cards using the Cheerful Daisies set?  This was one of the pre-order sets that demonstrators could order back in April, prior to the go-live of the new 2023-24 Annual Catalog.

But I didn't get it 😮. Can you believe it?

Somehow, at the time, it really didn't appeal to me.  Sure there were pretty flowers.  And yes, there were great greetings.  And yeah, the dies were wonderful.  But I had a daisy punch (retired) and didn't think I needed a daisy set.

And then the samples started rolling in.

And it was then that I knew that I had made my first mistake (thanks to Lyle Lovett!) 😁

So I ordered it, and then this happened:

Oh my, I'm in love!  Yes, with the daisies that I didn't think I needed!

But I'm in love with more than just the daisies - this whole card has me feeling happy!

First the colors - Parakeet Party (one of my favorites!) with Basic White and Lemon Lolly...a breath of spring!

Then the background - my first play with the Exposed Brick embossing folder - 💗

Then the layered daisies...the dies are fabulous!

But look at that greeting!  Can't overlook the Wanted to Say dies!  More love!

And finally the pearls - 2022-24 In Color Pearls, a perfect color green to match the Parakeet Party.

Fortunately I can learn from my mistakes!  I'm so glad I reconsidered the Cheerful Daisy bundle.  And if you haven't gotten it yet, you should reconsider too...I know you'll be glad you did.

A Big Squeeze

I love sending card packs to my Cards-by-Mail members, and this one was no exception!  Such a bold, bright card:

 Isn't that fun?

I wanted to introduce a few new colors this month, and this one uses Blueberry Bushel and Lemon Lime Twist.

The background is cut with the Dots & Spots die, and the label is one of the new Nested Essentials dies.

And because I like to teach my folks new things, we made a pop-up inside:

These cards are so fun to open because the middle pops out!  We added greetings to two of the panels and a lemon (cut and embossed with the Sweet Citrus Hybrid Embossing Folder) was placed on the third panel, leaving one for a message from the sender.

I just love the bright colors!

I hope my friends had as much fun making their cards as I did!

Sweet Citrus and the coordinating Sweet Citrus bundle is available here.

Triangle Flap Fold

I honestly have no idea what this fun-fold card is called, but I love it!  I'm calling it the Triangle Flap Fold, as there is a triangle and a flap.  Take a look:

Can you see the flap?  How about the triangle?

Maybe this will help:

The left side of the card is a triangle, made by simply slicing away half of the front of the card, cutting from the top where the score line is, diagonally down to the point of the card at the bottom.

Then there's the flap:

This starts as a 3" x 8" piece of coordinating cardstock, scored in the middle and then adhered, so one part (the "back") is inside the card, and the other is on the front:

My color combo is Sweet Sorbet and Cherry Cobbler, along with the now-retired Gingham DSP in Sweet Sorbet.

We made this card in class the other day, and I had it in a few color combinations.  We decorated our "flap" with a piece of Basic White, embossed with the Basics embossing folder (from the OnLine Exclusives collection).  Then we used the Timeless Arrangements dies to cut leaves and a label for stamping our greeting (also from the Timeless Arrangements stamps).

Such a pretty fun-fold card!  Timeless Arrangements has a number of lovely sentiments, and a few different size labels.  And there are several types and sizes of leaves for your decorating pleasure.  It's a great set to have in your craft supply due to its simplicity and versatility - there are stamps for gratitude and positive thoughts, and who doesn't need that?

Be sure to add Timeless Arrangements stamps and dies to your collection!  You'll be glad you did!
