More Tropical Layers

The Artfully Layered stamp set is going to retire at the end of the January - June 2022 Mini Catalog period, effective June 30.  This is such a great set (and great bundle, when you add the coordinating dies) and I'd hate for you to miss out.

So today I'm sharing yet another card made with the set and the dies, but I've used the all new 2022-24 In Colors!

How is that for bright and cheery?

I started by cutting out 6 of the large leaf die cuts, three in white and one each in Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Tahitian Tide.  I mixed and matched the pieces and filled in the spaces of the white ones with the colored insert pieces, and used a little adhesive tape on the back to hold the pieces in place.

I also used the dies to cut the Starry Sky strip along the top and bottom of the card, and to cut out the little heart-shaped leaves, using Orchid Oasis cardstock.  So I got all of the new In Colors on one card!

And see the background?  The Thick Basic White card base was embossed with one of the Checks & Dots embossing folders (which will be retiring on Monday!).

The In Colors will be available on Tuesday, May 3rd, and the Artfully Layered Bundle will still be around through the end of June.  But I'd hate for you to miss out on this wonderful set!

Ready for Another Sneak Peek?

The new 2022-23 Annual Catalog is almost here, and today I've got another Sneak Peek of new products for you:

 Do you love?  SWOON!

Just about everything on this card is new, so let's look at the individual elements.

First:  the card itself!

The card base is one of the new Tea Boutique Cards & Envelopes.  For just $10, you get 20 pre-printed cards and envelopes featuring all of the new In Colors.  I love this polka-dotted card in Tahitian Tide!

And look:

The package comes with coordinating envelopes!  LOVE!  The cards are part of the Tea Boutique Suite, but, other than the printed card front, are plain and can be used with any stamps/dies to create beautiful cards on pretty bases.

Then the stamps:

These are from the Happiness Abounds set, from the Hues of Happiness Suite.  I showcased another card from this suite last week, using the coordinating Designer Paper.  You can see that one here.

But today I just used the stamps.  Stamped on Basic White cardstock and colored with Stampin' Blends in Sweet Sorbet (one of the new In Colors), Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green, they were then cut out with the Blossoming Happiness dies (which also can be used to cut out some of the flowers in the Designer Paper!  Yippee!)

And look at these corners:

Aren't they sweet?  One of the dies in the new Fabulous Frames set cuts them (and there's another die for plain corners).  Just a little extra touch!

And of course the Brushed Brass Butterflies - so glad they are carrying over from the current catalog so they will be available for all my floral cards!

Well...now is YOUR chance to win a Golden Voucher!  Take a look:

Old and New

I love mixing stamp sets and dies, and in this case, older stamps with newer products:

The "old" is the Artfully Layered stamp set, used for the background, the leaves, and the greeting, and the Tropical Layers dies.   These items will be retiring at the end of the January - June 2022 Mini Catalog, on June 30.

The "new" is the fabulous colors and that wonderful frame.

First, the stamps:

I started with a 3-1/2"x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White, on which I stamped the background text using Orchid Oasis ink (stamped off one time).  The leaves were stamped with Parakeet Party ink, and the large palm leaf was stamped with Starry Sky, then colored with the Light Starry Sky Stampin' Blend.  The same color was used to stamp the greeting.

Can you see the little diamonds cut into the paper?  That great texture comes from one of the dies in the set.  I randomly cut the pattern in a few spots on the layer.

And look at that great frame!  The new Fabulous Frames contains one large die that cuts and embosses this frame, all at the same time.  I used Tahitian Tide cardstock for the frame, which was popped up on Adhesive Strips.

The greeting was cut with another new set of dies - Stylish Shapes.  I love the stitched look!

Once the card was complete, I added a few of the In Color Matte Decorative Dots, one each in Tahitian Tide, Parakeet Party and Starry Sky.

Are you looking forward to the new In Colors?  I think they are a great group of colors, and they make me very happy!  I hope they'll do the same for you!

A Superhero Birthday

What do you get a grandchild who is stuck on superheroes?

Nate, our 9-year-old grandson (today - Happy Birthday!) loves Spiderman.  So when we researched a gift for his birthday, we discovered s Spiderman mug.  He already had a mug of another superhero that he loves, so we thought this would be perfect.

But what about a card?

How about this?

This was totally a "love project".  I had no idea how I was going to make it, but I had the ad for the mug to help:

It was actually an easy card to create.

I started with Real Red cardstock, cut to 4-1/4" x 11" and scored at 5-1/2".  Then I merely cut thin Basic Black strips of paper.  I punched a little oval (actually 2 small circles, overlapping) to center the "nose" or beginning of the spider webs, and then attached the 8 straight strips.  Next I used circle dies to cut black circles and fit them in between the black strips, creating a "web".

The eyes were a bit more of a challenge.  I cut one from Basic Black, then flipped it over and used it as a stencil for the second one.  I cut a third, then cut it down to a smaller size, and cut two of them in white.  Easy!

I was actually quite pleased with the outcome; what do you think?  Will Nate know it's Spiderman?  ðŸ˜‰

One More Sneak Peek: Sending Smiles

My last Sneak Peek this week uses the Sending Smiles stamps and Sending Dies.

I've been asked to join a swap group, and we are swapping cards made with new products from the upcoming Annual catalog.  I decided to use all the new In Colors on my card - four of them are showcased on the front, and one is on the inside.  I also used my favorite new stamps from the pre-order - Sending Smiles.

I started by stamping and cutting the flowers and stems using Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide and Parakeet Party.  The background paper, Starry Sky from the In Color collection of designer papers was cut to 3" x 4-1/4", and the flowers were adhered to it.  The Basic White frame (cut using two of the Stylish Shapes dies) was popped up with Adhesive Strips.  And then the greeting:

The "word bubble", cut in Parakeet Party, is one of the dies in the bundle, the Sending dies.  There is also a detailed word ("sending") or you can stamp the word directly on the word bubble (or stamp it first and then cut it out).  I chose to stamp it in Starry Sky for this card.  You can see a sample of the detailed word die here.

Can you see the difference?  I didn't have enough of the Starry Sky background paper to make all 13 cards, so I used another pattern of the same color.  I love that you get 40 sheets of paper in the pack - 4 sheets each of 2 double-sided designs in 5 colors!  That's a lot of paper!

But I was missing one more color - Orchid Oasis.  So I added it inside:

And here are all my cards:

I can't wait to see all the swaps I will be getting back - I'll be sure to share them with you over the next few weeks.
