A Triangle Treat Box for Valentine's Day

Here's the little triangle treat box that I showcased (see it here) last week for the Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop.  This idea was given to me by my friend and downline, Bonnie.

This is such a cute box and very easy to make.  Best yet--it uses up all those scraps you have lying around.

Give it a try!

Welcome Zoo Babies!

Round two of the baby card saga...(read Round one here)...

I was asked to create a green or gray baby card with animals and/or balloons, so here, in a minor stroke of genius (if I say so myself), is what I did:

I actually thought it came out really cute!  This is a 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" card, with a Basic Gray base.  The next layer is So Saffron, then a skinnier layer of Mint Macaron.

My elephant, from Zoo Babies, was stamped directly on the Whisper White top layer with Archival Basic Gray ink.  The monkey was stamped with Chocolate Chip and fussy cut (OK, I had to do this twice--I was nearly done cutting out the first one when I accidentally snipped off his arm!  Ouch!).  I also re-stamped the elephant's ear and cut it out, using a Dimensional to pop it up.

The balloons are from Beautiful Ride and Party Wishes; the striped one is Envelope Paper.

There is quite a bit of white space near the top of the card; the person who requested this wanted the new parents names on the card, so I created a little banner to place across on a diagonal in the upper left corner.  But just in case she prefers the card I showed you yesterday, I didn't attach it yet.

And of course there is a matching envelope...In Color Envelope Paper and my Envelope Punch Board made the perfect coordinating cover for this cute card.

A New Little Someone

Do you ever open your mouth and start to talk before your brain catches up with you?  Find yourself offering to help someone, but as you hear yourself talking, wonder why?

I was picking up a fax in my office the other day, and my administrative assistant was at the copier.  She looked a little sheepish and then said, "You're crafty.  Can you tell me how easy it would be to make this card?" and showed me a copy (THAT SHE WAS MAKING ON THE OFFICE COPIER!) of a very simple, cute baby card.  I don't have too many reasons to make baby cards any more.  So as I was telling her how to make it, I suddenly heard myself asking her if she wanted me to make a baby card for her.  Wait...What?  Oh, well, go with the flow...

She was delighted, so I told her to give me a note (mainly so I wouldn't forget once I got home), and she brings me a half sheet of paper with instructions.  "Use gray, or green, or any neutral color; maybe clouds, or an animal (elephant, bear or giraffe), and the names of the couple are ___ and ___, signed 'best wishes' " and her name.  I actually wondered if she wanted me to sign the inside for her?

Well, she's nice and I know she means well, so I got busy today and started to create.  The card sample she showed me had balloons (heart-shaped and normal round ones) with "Congrats" along the bottom.  I used both of those ideas and came up with this:

This is quite a large card:  5" x 8".  (I checked my Envelope Punch Board to ensure I would be able to make an envelope that big--easy peasy!  I can go even larger!).

I started by stamping the balloons from Celebrate Today, using Pool Party, So Saffron, Mint Macaron, Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride.  I used the coordinating pattern stamps with Island Indigo (stamped off once), Crushed Curry and Old Olive.  Then I cut them all out with the matching Balloon Framelits.

The background paper is a FREE Sale-a-Bration item--Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.  One side is marbled, and the other side is a soft, watercolor wash of color--in this case a mix of Pool Party and Mint Macaron.  It's layered on Basic Gray, and the card base is Pool Party.

The balloons were carefully placed on the card front and I cut out letters from a retired alphabet Bigz die.  I finished by stamping "Congrats" from Bravo, using Archival Basic Gray ink; this was hand-cut with my paper snips, and adhered using Dimensionals.

A matching envelope using Neutrals Envelope Paper was (in keeping with the theme) stamped with the little balloon from Beautiful Ride.

I really like this card.  But wait!  There's more!  This was actually the second card I made for my colleague.  Come back tomorrow and see the other one!

What? Another Blog Hop?

You betcha!  It's time for a new

January 2016 Mini Blog Hop #2 photo 2016 January Mini Blog Hop Banner 2.jpg

Yes, we're having a second blog hop this month featuring even more new goodies from the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs! This time we have 10 artists showcasing their work with new stamps and accessories.  Please take some time to visit everyone, and be sure to leave a quick message!  We love to read your comments!

You may have just come from Marie Green's fabulous blog.  I always love seeing what she puts together.  And if you've just joined us here, please click on the "next" button when you are done and go see what else we have to show you.

I've had such fun creating with all my new things.  Today I am featuring one of my favorite new sets, Number of Years.  Take a look:

I love the flowers and leaves of this set, and since it's photopolymer (clear) you can see right through the stamps in order to make a perfect placement.

I inked the leaves in Pear Pizzazz and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  I then took the little flowers and stamped in Pool Party, Watermelon Wonder and Blushing Bride--so pretty!

I would have used a sentiment from the set (there are MANY reasons to use this set!) but I really needed a retirement card for a friend, so I used one from Wild About Flowers.

The Whisper White strip was first given a wash of Blushing Bride ink, using my Aqua Painters; after it was dry, I stamped the sentiment using Soft Suede Ink.  A strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper (be still my heart!) was added just below the sentiment and popped up on Dimensionals.

The card base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock, on which I scored double lines around the edges--looks like embossing on fine stationary--using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool.  So elegant!  And to finish it off, some random Blushing Bride Sequin Trim and a stamp of flowers on the envelope!

Now on to a completely different project, using another of my favorite stamp sets, Going Global.
How about a Valentine and little treat holder?

Those of you who know me know I like non-traditional Valentines--no pink and red for me!  I like black and red!  And gold!

I started with a Basic Black base, and adhered a thin strip of Red Glimmer Paper to one edge.

I cut a little strip of Basic Black using my Rotary addition and Small Scallop blade for my Stampin' Trimmer.  This was glued to a piece of Going Places Designer Series paper and added to the front of my card.

My world was stamped using Archival Basic Black ink (so black!) and then I used the new Wink Of Stella clear Glitter Brush and painted over the continents--the photo above catches the glimmer on the continents.  Very subtle and pretty when it catches the light.

The world was punched with the 2" Circle punch, along with two more Very Vanilla circles, adhered off-center to the back of the globe and popped up on Dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped and adhered, and a little heart from Red Glimmer Paper was cut, using the Confetti Hearts Border punch.

And a cute treat holder:
Same color combination:  Basic Black wrapped with Going Places DSP.  A sentiment from a Sale-a-Bration set, Honeycomb Happiness is the perfect way to introduce this:

a line-up of Hugs and Kisses! (You can get this set FREE with a qualifying order!  Be sure to check out the Sale-a-Bration offerings this year--great items and you can't beat the price!)

A red glimmer heart (with a smaller one of Gold Foil Sheets) echoes the heart on the Valentine.   I'll have directions for making this cute treat holder next week, just in time for Valentines Day.

Now off to see Gail Allen, who JUST received her new toys to play with and got into the hop by the skin of her teeth!  Can't wait to see what she's come up with--she always thrills me!  Thanks for stopping by!

My New Favorite Set!

Oh, my!  I've started playing with the fabulous new Number of Years stamp set, currently available in the Occasions Catalog (but flying off the shelves of Stampin' UP!s inventory) and it has got to be my new favorite set!  Take a look:

I was invited to a friend's 50th birthday party (held at a roller skating rink, and we were asked to dress from the 1980's--how fun is that?) and I made her a card.  Number of Years is such a perfect stamp set for SO many occasions!

My card base is Whisper White Thick Cardstock, with a skinny layer of Watermelon Wonder; then a layer of the beautiful Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, on which I stamped "Look Who's Turning" in Watermelon Wonder ink.

I stamped my numbers with Blushing Bride ink and cut them out with the coordinating framelits, Large Numbers Framelits Dies.  These were mounted, using Dimensionals, on an oval of Pool Party, cut with my Ovals Framelits and embossed with a retired embossing folder.  And look at that cute banner--"look who's turning 29 - again!" just made me giggle!  The banner framelit is included with the numbers--so many framelits in this set!

There's a panel of Whisper White, stamped with the leaves and flowers from the set.

I finished off my card with some more flowers and leaves--Petite Petals and a few of the little flowers from Something To Say (on sale this week in the Weekly Deals--don't miss it!), and punched with matching punches.  The leaves are from the Bird Punch, and then there are some Pearls Basic Jewels for a little bling.

Now for the inside:

After skating in our 80's clothes, we all needed a reality check!

Of course a card this pretty needs a matching envelope--not only did I stamp the front, but I also used my Envelope Liners Framelits and more of the DSP for the inside:

You'll see more of this stamp set in the coming days--I haven't been able to put it down!

Time for a Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop!

January 2016 Mini Hop Number One photo 2016 January Mini Blog Hop Banner 1.jpg

Yes it's time for an Occasions Catalog Blog Hop with the Wacky Watercooler gang. With the release of the new Occasions Catalog AND the Sale-A-Bration brochure, there's lots to show off.  Our hop is a circle; jump on anywhere and click the "next" or "back" buttons to travel to another blog.

You may have just seen Buffy Cooper's fabulous samples--isn't she the best?  And if you've joined here, be sure to visit all seven Watercooler artists and see what they have to show you.

I got to preview the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs in November at an event in San Diego.  I was SO excited to take home this first stamp set, Beautiful Ride.  Because my first love - my VW Bug - was so very special to me, this set really tugged at my heartstrings.   Take a look:

As soon as I saw the stamps, I had a vision of the beach.  I grew up on a beach on Long Island, NY, and now spend time twice a year on Cape Cod.  So this card was in my mind and I had to get it onto paper!

I started with Shimmery White Cardstock and masked off my "beach" and the "water".  I sponged the sunset, then the ocean and finally the sand with my Stampin' Sponges and Sponge Daubers.

My bug was stamped with Basic Black Archival ink on Watercolor paper and then colored with Aquapainters.  Be sure to notice the "Love" on the door--what a great touch (as this is an anniversary card for my niece and her husband).  The bug was snipped and popped on Dimensionals.  I repeated the process for the couple and added them to the roof of the car.

Now since my niece's husband enjoys surfing, how fun was it that this set includes a surfboard?

That, too, was stamped, colored and cut out and adhered with really skinny pieces of Dimensionals.

Isn't that fun?

And speaking of fun, wait until you see the offerings in the Sale-a-Bration catalog!  My next sample spotlights a new set that can be yours for FREE (with a qualifying purchase) as well as some absolutely yummy designer series paper:

Wowsa!  I got hungry just looking at these luscious colors!

This card shows off Birthday Bouquet DSP - beautiful prints and colors in Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaroon, Blushing Bride and Pool Party, along with a few more.  So soft and romantic!

I used two of the prints on this card, AND there's a wonderful scallop of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper...WHAT?  OMG...what a fabulous addition to our glimmer papers!

"Hooray" is a Sale-a-Bration offering called Perfect Pairings (I used the Happy Birthday stamp on the inside of this card).  Love the font!  My banner has a wash of color (Aquapainter and Blushing Bride ink refill swiped across my Whisper White cardstock) and then Hooray is stamped in Watermelon Wonder.

And see that little cupcake?  Also from a new set in the Occasions Catalog - Party Wishes - and three of the stamps have coordinating punches!  The Party Punch Pack includes the cupcake, a balloon and a candle!  Woo Hoo!

"It's Your Day" is from another new Occasions Catalog set - Sunburst Sayings - a perfect combo of sweet phrases to be used for many occasions.

That's it for me!  I hope you have enjoyed my creations highlighting lots of goodies now available in the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs!

Now on to see what Deb Smart has to show you!  She always wows me with her ideas; I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for stopping by!
