Gorgeous in Monochrome

One of the things I love about being a Stampin' UP! demonstrator is the resources to which I have access.  On the Stampin' Connection website, I watched a video by Esther Howard, who showed us how to create a beautiful scene using only one color of ink.  I was captivated, and had to try it.

My first attempt used the same stamp set as Esther, including a similar color, Dapper Denim.  The card itself is an original by me; only the stamping was copied.  Here is my card:

It actually took my breath away...

The lighthouse and beach scene is from the set High Tide.  It is stamped using only Dapper Denim.  I started by sponging my Whisper White card stock, leaving some "white space" in the center, and sponging with a heavier touch around the edges.  Some of the stamps were inked and stamped off once; others are full strength.  But what beauty can be created with only one color!

I chose Dapper Denim as my card base, and added a layer of the fabulous Wood Textures designer series paper.  I wanted this card to have a "beachy" feel.

And in keeping with the beach-vibe, I also stamped and fussy cut shells from So Many Shells, again using only Dapper Denim ink.

I finished by flicking some Dapper Denim ink (flick the brush side of the marker using the cap of the pen) lightly over the DSP.

So I decided to do it again...

How about in Crumb Cake?

Very Vanilla Thick cardstock was used as the base, with another sheet of the Wood Textures DSP.

Same card, same technique, just different colors--stunning!  I added a strip of Burlap ribbon; the sentiment is from So Many Shells and was cut using the Stitched Shapes framelits.

I can't wait to find some other stamp sets to use to make more monochrome scenes--I love the results!  Don't you?  Won't you leave me a comment and tell me what you think?
