A Color Challenge

Have you ever participated in a Color Challenge?  This is where you have a list of colors to be used to make a card.

Today on the Demonstrator FaceBook page, a color challenge was posted:

Although this would never be a color combination that I would have thought of (I much prefer bright colors) I thought it was pretty.  So I figured, "what the heck; let's give it a go!", and headed to my craft room.

Somehow I had something in mind, and when I started creating, it all just fell into place:

Of course I turned to my favorite products (for the moment 😆), pulling out Oceanfront, On the Horizon and the Horizon dies.  But they just screamed "color combo" to me.

I started with the Soft Succulent, for the grassy area on the card.  Then I added the Sahara Sand in front of it, stamping two images to extend it a little.  Gray Granite came next with the boulders in front, and I finished with Evening Evergreen for the trees and the grass.  But the sky needed something, and I still hadn't used Cinnamon Cider - what to do?

I tried to get a little creative here...I used a Blending Brush to add some Gray Granite to the sky, thinking it would be a gray, Oregon day.  Nope...looked like smoke.  So I blended a little Cinnamon Cider over it - much too orange!  What to do next?  I then tried a touch of Soft Succulent - it softened the orange, and added a green-blue tint, and I decided that would do it!

But I still needed more Cinnamon Cider - a fence!  Used the large "wood" stamp in On the Horizon directly on Cinnamon Cider cardstock, then cut it with the Horizon dies.  LOVE!

So what started as an experiment in color ended with a lovely card!

Why not take the color challenge?  Let me know what you come up with.  I can't wait to see!

On the Horizon and the Horizon dies will be retiring at the end of the January - June mini catalog, but if supplies run out before then, they will no longer be available.  Get them while you still can!
