June's Fun Fold Card

At my June Card Club we included a "fun fold" card.  And here it is:

There really isn't too much to it, except for cutting a piece off the front of a regular card and making sure you adhere the strip at the right time.

Here are the details:

1.  Take a piece of cardstock (here we used Tranquil Tide) and cut it in half at 4-1/4" x 11.  Score it in the middle at 5-1/2".  You will also need two mat-layers (here we used Soft Seafoam); one is 5-1/4" x 4" and the other is 3-3/4" x 4".  And your inside Whisper White layer is 5" x 3-3/4".   Finally, you need a piece of Designer Series Paper for the front - we used Tranquil Textures, cut at 3-1/2" x 3-3/4".

2.  On one end of the card base (which will be the front of your card) trim off 1-1/2".  Save the strip.

3.  We ran the strip through the Subtle embossing folder with the Big Shot.  See the texture?

4.  Score at 1/2" on one end of the strip.  Adhere the short, 1/2" side to the back of the larger Soft Seafoam piece, then adhere this to the inside of the card.  Add your white layer.

5.  On the outside, adhere your DSP to the smaller Soft Seafoam piece, and add to the front of the card.

6.  Cut a Whisper White Stitched Shape Square (the second from the largest).  We used Lilypad Lake to stamp our sea and sailboats (cut out with the Lakeside Framelits after coloring with Stampin' Blends) and Waterfront to stamp the sky and sun (Balmy Blue, stamped off twice, and Daffodil Delight).

7.  Cut two coordinating squares, using the Layering Squares Framelits - one in Tranquil Tide and one in Soft Seafoam; layer together.

8.  Adhere the squares to the strip, being careful to only use adhesive on the strip below where the square will be (if you get more on the back of the squares, your card won't open).

9.  Stamp sentiment (from Itty Bitty Greetings) and punch with the Modern Label Punch.

And here is how the card opens:

Everyone enjoyed this fun fold card--it still fits in a standard envelope, and doesn't require extra postage, but is beautiful and unique.  Something a recipient will enjoy.
