Layers of Beauty, Round 2

 I'm highlighting the Layers of Beauty bundle (dies and masks) this week, showcasing a set that will be making its debut on May 1st.  As a Stampin' UP! demonstrator, I get to pre-order certain new products, and this is one of the items I chose.

Yesterday I showed you a card that was very simple - just stamps, ink and paper.

Today I'm stepping it up a bit; I again used stamps, ink and paper, but this time I added in the dies, the masks and an embossing folder, along with some bling:

After stamping the main, large image in black, I cut it out with the coordinating Layers of Beauty dies.  This was layered on a Thick Basic White card base, but I added a 1/2 sheet of Basic Black, embossed with one of the Basics embossing folders.

And then...that rose:

I feel like an artist!  OMG!  This is so pretty...AND so easy!  I stamped the large image once again, and this time I used the masks to color in the rose image.  (As you'll see later this week, you can color the complete, large image, but I chose to just do the one rose).  I used Poppy Parade, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler inks and Blending Brushes.  

I then cut the rose with the single die (I DID trim a little more, as I had blurred a little color outside the lines), and then popped it up over the large rose in the initial black & white image.

This "Spotlight" technique really highlights one element, and can totally change the feel of the card.

Layers of Beauty

 The Layers of Beauty bundle (including stamps, dies and masks) will be available when the upcoming 2024-25 Annual Catalog goes live on May 1st.  

I thought it might be fun to feature a few of the new products, starting with Layers of Beauty,  and I'll be showcasing this bundle all week.  

So let's start with easy, sophisticated and stunning:

I stamped the large floral image in Tuxedo Black ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock cut to 3-3/4" x 5".  I also added a greeting from the set.

All this card needed was to be mounted on a Basic Black piece and then on a Thick Basic White card base.  Oh, and a few Classic Matte Dots.

Sometimes "simple" says it all!

Good-Bye 2022-24 In Colors

 How many of you will miss the In Colors that are about to retire?  Parakeet Party (sigh), Tahitian Tide (oh no!), Sweet Sorbet (boo hoo), Starry Sky (crying) and Orchid Oasis (oh...)...

So this is me, saying good-bye to some of my favorites:

Happily, Beach Day and the Beach Day dies will be sticking around for another year, as it is a returning-from-the-mini-catalog set.  And it's so cute!  I love beachy things, so this set is making me happy.

Which I need, because I'm sad that these colors are retiring.  So, I decided to make an entire card with the colors that are leaving (well, I DID use Basic White and Crushed Curry, but in moderation).

Another Mediterranean Blooms

 I'm still in love with the Mediterranean Blooms designer paper that will be coming in the new Annual Catalog, May 1.  Look at this:

I won this gorgeous paper at OnStage, Stampin' UP's Annual "Convention", which I attended in Houston, TX last week.  I was thrilled when Prize Patrol called my number and this beautiful paper was the prize!

I started with a Pumpkin Pie base, and snuck in a little Peach Pie (sneak peek at an upcoming In Color), then layered it with a piece of Mediterranean Blooms DSP.  SO pretty!

Because I don't yet have the coordinating stamps, I used my Scan 'n Cut machine to fussy cut the oranges/leaves, and popped them up on a Stylish Shapes circle.  A jewel from the 2024-26 In Color Shimmer Gems and a triple bow of Linen Thread finishes off my card.

I can't wait for you to be able to purchase Mediterranean Blooms DSP - I know you'll fall I love with it, just as I have!

This sneak peek at a new stamp set (Attention Shoppers) includes ALL the upcoming new In Colors! Check out these cute little shopping bags in Pretty in Pink, Shy Shamrock, Petunia Pop, Summer Splash and Peach Pie. 

I stamped them twice - once on colored cardstock and again on sheets of the 2024-26 In Color 6" x 6" DSP. Then I fussy-cut the bags and adhered them over the cardstock, allowing the "tissue" to show on the top. 

 

And those jewels! LOVE!  The 2024-26 In Color Shimmer Gems are so pretty!
