A Musician's Birthday Card

What could be better for a musician than to get a card with music notes on it?  (Well I'm sure there are LOTS of things that could be better for him to get, but I'm going with the card 😉)...

I had such fun creating this, with the music notes, the handsome Designer Series Paper, and the bright color of Lemon Lime Twist (oh how I'll miss that when it retires in June!  If you have any favorite In Color colors, you might want to stock up now; once it goes on the Retiring List, it sells out quickly!).

Let's break it down:

Card base is Basic Black, with a layer of Lemon Lime Twist.

Then comes a layer of the beautiful Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper - FREE with a qualifying $50 Sale-a-Bration order.

Next I ran another rectangle of Lemon Lime Twist through the Big Shot twice:  once with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits, and again with the Corrugated Embossing Folder.  Makes for a nice textured layer that contrasts with the diagonal stripes of the DSP.

The music was stamped using the Sheet Music background stamp and Tuxedo Black ink on Whisper White paper, then cut with another of the Rectangle Stitched framelits dies and mounted on Basic Black.

The sentiment from Lemon Zest is stamped directly on Lemon Lime Twist, and flagged with the Banner Triple Punch.  "TO" is from Well Said, and "YOU" is cut with the Celebrate You Thinlits dies.

Isn't this perfect for a musician?  It's on its way to my brother-in-law, and I know he'll appreciate it.  In fact I'm sure he'll recognize the song in the Sheet Music stamp (answer:  Fur Elise.  Shouldn't it be Happy Birthday? 😊)

Don't forget - Sale-a-Bration is only here through the end of this month!  FREE stuff with every $50 purchase!

Two Ways to Color

I had some thank you notes to send out, and wanted to use the beautiful FREE Sale-a-Bration offering, Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  I had seen a few samples where the paper was colored with Stampin' Blends, so I decided to give it a go.  What do you think?

The patterned paper I used (both the stripes and the butterflies) are from the Botanical Butterfly selection, and they are black and white.  I chose to color in two different methods - background coloring and image coloring.  Let's take a closer look.

For this card, I chose to color just the butterfly images.  Really makes them stand out, huh?  Placing them on a small mat of Basic Black and Pool Party makes the images pop!

But then I did this:

Wow!

I had trouble determining which I liked more...what about you?  Won't you leave me a comment and let me know?

Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper is still available with a $50 purchase.  But it won't last forever!
