Scrappy Birthday

 Today is my "baby's" birthday.

Last week I was playing with the Scrappy Strip technique and made a background that I loved.  So it became his card:

Now truth be told, I made the main layer and then got a little stuck on what to do next.  So what do you do when you get stuck?

I turned to Pinterest!  And there I saw a card by Connie Collins (who happens to be a Stampin' UP Artisan) and it got me going in the right direction.  She had a circle element with the Cajun Craze label, and then I took it from there.

The "Happy" is from a retired set of Christmas dies that I NEVER used!  Can you believe it?  But somehow it was just the right moment to pull it out and cut it, using a piece of the In Good Taste patterned paper (which I had also used for the background).  The leaves were cut with the Nature's Roots dies (and you can emboss them too!).

And that background:

I cut strips of many of the In Good Taste papers on a diagonal, then mounted them to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.  Once completed I cut to size using the Stitched Rectangle dies.

Such a nice masculine card!

So Happy Birthday, Matt!

Have you tried the Scrappy Strip Technique yet?  Give it a go - you'll love the results!

Capture the Good

Need a masculine birthday card?  How about this:

I just broke down and purchased the Capture the Good stamp set, and I'm so happy I did!  I needed a birthday card for my brother-in-law, a photographer, and this was just perfect!

I stamped the camera with Gray Granite ink on Gray Granite cardstock, and added additional shading with a Gray Granite Light Stampin' Blends marker.  Did you catch the dimension of the lens?

How fun is that?  A few punches and Dimensionals and you've got a very realistic camera!

The card base is Gray Granite, with a skinny Basic Black border and the plaid pattern from Country Club Designer Series Paper.  I inked the greetings in Gray Granite ink on Whisper White cardstock and mounted it to another skinny black layer.  Finally the camera was fussy-cut and popped up with Dimesionals.

Really couldn't be easier!

Check out Capture the Good--it's a great stamp set for simple cards and for your scrapbook pages!

Triple the Fun for Father's Day

Tomorrow is Father's Day and I have three cards for you.  All using A Good Man, these are the cards I sent my sons this year.

And I love them!  Each card uses the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper along with A Good Man.  The image was stamped and colored with Stampin' Blends, and then cut to size.

This image makes me think of my son, Evan; he carries his son, Declan on his shoulders.  I added two strips of Braided Linen Trim and used the Layering Ovals dies.

Matt has a strawberry blond, Charlotte.  This card is nearly identical to one I made for my father.  Cut with the Rectangle Stitched dies, I wrapped the Linen trim around the banner (punched with the Banner Triple Punch).

And for my son-in-law, Brandon:

With his four kids, he needs to relax 😉

And for the inside:

A Good Man is wonderful for Father's Day, but it's equally useful for any masculine card.  It's the perfect set to help you make the perfect card!
