Rainbow of Circles

OK, how long does it usually take you to jump on a crafting bandwagon?  Me?  Sometimes I'm a bit slow...

I saw one of these Layering Circles cards about a month ago on a Demonstrator Facebook page.  I was definitely impressed, and wondered how it was done.  Then I didn't give it another thought until about a week ago.

I was sitting in my craft room wondering what to create, and I remembered that card.  It was done in blues, but I had another idea:

OMG!  The colors are so striking against the black background!  L.O.V.E.!!!

So how are these cards made?  First I picked out my colors, and for some reason, rainbow "spoke" to me.  So I grabbed Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape.

Then I started cutting.  I made a large and a small circle in each color, but I had to play a little with the "inside" colors.  For those I used progressively smaller circles.  You end up with 12 circles in all, and then I cut them in half.

I ran some Basic Black through my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine (it's available NOW to demonstrators!) using the Tasteful Textiles embossing folder, and then started layering my circles.  For those above the white sentiment line, I added each successively smaller circle to the left side of the one below it; for those below the line, I added them to the right.

Leaving a small gap in the center, I adhered my layered circles so that the right edge of the red circle on the top half met with the left edge of the red circle on the lower half - make sense?

And then there's that greeting - from the retired Beautiful You, I masked the "brighter",  inked up the stamp with Tuxedo Black ink, then removed my mask and colored the word with Stampin' Write Markers.  And yes...I tried very hard to match up the colors of the sentiment to the rainbow circles...I'm a little crazy that way!  😯

The best part of making this card came when I realized I had the same number of circles ready for a second card!  Yippee!

I've been playing with this technique since last week, so expect to see more of this type of card soon!

Don't you love it?
