A 3-D Birthday!
On one of my recent blog hops, a fellow "hopper", Marie Green, created a beautiful telescoping card. (here) I've been dreaming of this card for awhile, and finally decided it was worth a try for my Dad's birthday.
Here is my version:
I am SO happy with the way this card came out. I have owned the Traveler stamp set for over a year, and this is the first time it has seen ink (how sad!). I just didn't know what to do with it, but I loved it from the start.
This image was stamped using Basic Gray Archival ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I then used my new Layering Squares Framelits and began cutting out squares.
It was quite easy to put the image back together (carefully of course) using Dimensionals for each layer.
"Happy Birthday" from B.Y.O.P. was stamped and cut with the Large Numbers Framelits dies.
This is a very classy card, and I can't wait to try this technique again!
All items can be purchased here.

A New Baby (Bear)!
I have a baby card for you today. We have had some news about a new baby joining our family, and I wanted to welcome him. Here is my card:
I also wanted to use the new Baby Bear stamp set--it's absolutely charming! This is a 3-step stamp; you choose your light base color, the medium color and the darker color to add the features (eyes, nose, etc) to the image. So I started with Crumb Cake and stamped the bear on Whisper White card stock. The next layer added some fur--this was stamped in Soft Suede. And I finished the bear with Early Espresso. So cute!
This year I purchased the fabulous Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, and am determined to use up all 40 sheets of this pretty paper. So I took the Soft Sky piece, adhered it to a piece of Whisper White (for a little extra heft) and cut it out with a retired label die.
This layer is popped up on Dimensionals, over the stamped piece of white, then they are added to a Soft Sky base. Very pretty and perfect for a baby boy! His bow tie is stamped in Soft Sky and hand cut.
Welcome little one!

The Wacky Watercooler Group Celebrates the New Catalog!
Yes it's time to enjoy another Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop!
Join us as we celebrate new In Colors, new Stamps and new Designer Series Papers! Our blog hop is circular; jump on anywhere and click on the links to travel to the next one. You may have just come from Marie's Tanglewood Cottage--she always inspires me to try something new! If you just hopped on here, please visit the other artists who are showcasing their creations. You won't be disappointed!
So many new things...where to start? I'll begin with my favorite new In Color, Peekaboo Peach:
I began with the beautiful new Floral Phrases stamp set, with the matching Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies and made a simple thank you note. This is not a traditional card; there is no real card base. Instead I used a single, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Crumb Cake and then built up. Those beautiful thinlits create a lacy "door" over my thank you note:
which slides out of the pocket. I stamped the flower with Peekaboo Peach Ink on Very Vanilla, layered it to more Peekaboo Peach cardstock, and slid it into the pocket, which is tied closed with three strands of the new 5/8" Burlap Ribbon.
I finished by brushing Clear Wink of Stella over the flowers--a pretty, subdued, monochromatic card in my favorite new peachy In Color.
Now for my favorite new stamp set: Birthday Fiesta!
Let's party! I have made a little party favor with some Fiesta flair--this is the new Popcorn Box Thinlits dies, cut from one of my favorite new DSP's--Festive Birthday. Love those little cacti! Then I stamped my llama and cactus, along with the banner and cut them out with the matching framelits...so cute!
Now how can you resist this little guy? Isn't he cute, all dressed up with his fancy neckware and sombrero? (That was fussy-cut from the DSP, as was his guitar).
Banners, banners and more banners...gotta love this entire suite of products! I'm going to enjoy using this set for so many occasions!
And now my nod to new DSP. I actually have to say that the above Festive Birthday is my fav--the colors and the patterns all tickle my fancy. But there is one other paper stack that you shouldn't miss: Serene Scenery--take a look:
This pretty 6" x 6" paper has a photo on one side, with patterned paper on the other. The photo sides are so pretty--a few with outdoor meadow scenes, clouds or ocean beaches, and some, like this one, with a more abstract print. I love the bokeh look and this paper captures it beautifully.
So what did I do with it?
Using the fun Pun Intended Host set (can be yours with a qualifying purchase), I stamped the camera with Versamark ink and embossed it using Gold Embossing Powder. This was cut out by hand and layered on a starburst from Superstar, also embossed with Gold, cut out and layered on a circle of Gold Foil.
The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive, cut and layered under the camera. And can you see the Gold Glimmer paper in the flash? A fun little bonus. Serene Scenery was layered on a piece of Whisper White, then on Gold Foil, with a Whisper White Thick cardstock base.
So that's it for me! I hope you've enjoyed my favorite new things...now on to see Penny Hanuszak, an artist with a wonderful eye for detail. Thanks for visiting!
