Speaking of Fun Folds...

Yesterday I showed you a Corner Pocket Card, and today I have another fun-fold for you.  This uses a 5-1/2" x 12" piece of Designer paper (any color/pattern will work) and allows you to show off both sides of the paper.  This was another of my cards for February's Cards-by-Mail, and there were several color combinations to work with.  I used the the SAB FREE-with-$100 offering, Dandy Designs.  I also used the Thanks a Bunch stamp set, another SAB item, but any stamp set would work with this.

Isn't that cute?  I had such fun putting this together!

Starting with a piece of DSP measuring 5-1/2" x 12", I scored it at 4", 6" and 8".  I folded it, alternating the folds - the 4" and 8" score lines are valley folds, and the 6" is a mountain fold (from the inside).  Then, folded into a card, the back side was adhered to a card base measuring 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" (standard size card).  The top and bottom edges of the DSP will match up with the top and bottom of the cardstock, leaving small borders on either side.

Two strips of either DSP or cardstock (in my sample, I used cardstock), measuring 1-3/4" x 5-1/2" were adhered to the inside between the 4" and 8" score lines (see sample above).  I stamped mine, but if using DSP, you can just let the coordinating pattern show.

And that's the fold - just a long piece of DSP, scored and folded and adhered to the cardstock base.

Now you get to decorate:

I chose to show off these cute carrots; stamped on Basic White cut with the Stitched Rectangle dies, and layered over a slightly larger piece of Granny Apple Green, it was tied up with Linen Thread.

The greeting was stamped on a piece of Basic White with both edges punched with the Happy Labels Pick a Punch, laid on top of a coordinating piece of cardstock that is slightly longer and punched on both ends.

And since my inside strips were cardstock, I chose to add a few more carrots.  You can never have too many carrots!

I'm sorry I didn't get to show this card while Sale-a-Bration was still going on, as the paper and the stamp set are both unavailable now.  But you can use any DSP and any stamps to create this fun-fold card, so have fun!

A CASE of Carrots!

You've heard the term CASE - Copy And Share Everything?  Well, perusing the internet for ideas, I found this wonderful offering from Artisan Tammy Wilson (who I think is SO creative!):

I loved Tammy's little mini card with the tiny carrots (this must be a 3" x 3" card, looking at the size), so  I decided to CASE it, changing it up, but with the same colors and ideas.  I liked it so much I used it for a Card Club class this week.

Here's the card we made:

This is a standard-sized card, 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  I changed up quite a bit, but you'll notice the similarities in color, use of ribbon, and "rivets" in the 4 corners.

My card has a few differences.

First is the size - we used the medium-sized carrots (from Thanks a Bunch, a FREE stamp set with a qualifying order during Sale-a-Bration).  We splattered some Soft Suede (flick the brush side of the Stampin' Write marker against the inside of the cap to create spots on your card), then mounted the square to Mint Macaron that was embossed with the Timber embossing folder.

Like another of Tammy's cards, we heat-embossed the greeting with White embossing powder.

And it was all added to a Thick Basic White card base with a layer of Basic White that was embossed with the Brick & Mortar embossing folder.

Sweet!  Everyone loved their card!

When you run low on ideas, you can always try CASEing - it's a great way to augment your creativity!  Give it a try!

And don't forget -

Sale-a-bration is going on now, but is nearing its end!  Just one more week of FREE products with every $50 order...don't miss out!

Celebrating Sale-a-Bration with Carrots!

Yes it's time for carrots!  The Sale-a-Bration set, Thanks a Bunch, is a FREE with $50 purchase stamp set available now.  And it's such a cute - and unusual - stamp set!

The first thing I did with it was to create some mini notecards.  I like to send 3" x 3" cards when I send packages, so I always keep them on hand.  Look:

I start with a piece of 3" x 6" cardstock, scored and folded in the middle.  Then I decorate it with a few panels of coordinating colors and my main stamped image.  Both of these cards use the middle-size carrot and the small "greens".

Next I stamped a panel with three of the full-size (largest) carrot:

I cut a piece of the FREE with $100 purchase Dandy Designs paper using the Basic Borders dies and mounted it to my card base.  A 4-loop bow of Linen Thread tied my carrots together.

And finally, I CASEd the catalog:

I loved this sample and just had to recreate it.  I cut a card from Enjoy the Adventure Memories & More Cards and Envelopes to 4" x 8", folded in half.  Then I stamped 5 of the carrots and fussy-cut them out.  The "dirt" was cut with a die from Seaside Bay, and I used the emboss-resist technique for the greeting (stamped in Versamark and heat-embossed with White Embossing Powder, then used a Blending Brush to add color to the "sky".  Once done I used a tissue to wipe the ink off the white words.)  Such a cute card!

Thanks a Bunch is available now with a $50 purchase.  Grab it while you can - we are now in our last month of Sale-a-Bration, so these freebies won't last much longer!
