Sun Prints Simplicity

Sometimes making a card can be so easy!  Like when you have a gorgeous patterned paper that does all the work for you.

Kinda like this:

Remember the trick of laying old Polaroid photo paper in the sun with a leaf on top?  The sun would darken the photo paper, but where the leaf was would stay white.  

Well the Sun Prints 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper reminds me of that old trick.  The gorgeous leaf designs in white on shades of blues or grays are so striking!  

It was so easy to create a card with a Night of Navy base, a layer of Basic White, and then this lovely piece of patterned paper.  All I added was a 3/4" wide strip of Basic White, stamped with a greeting from Go To Greetings.

But wait! 

I had to dress it up a little - I used my Stamparatus to stamp the greeting in Night of Navy ink; then I stamped it again with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  Just a perfect little extra for such a pretty card!

Thinking of Sun Prints

Have you seen the Sun Prints designer paper?  This beautiful patterned paper, in shades of blues, gray, and white, is perfect for so many occasions.   The calming colors and nature prints (like those we used to make laying leaves on photo paper in the sun) made it my go-to for a needed sympathy card.

I always think of the color blue as the color of the ocean, and water calms me.  This card, with a Night of Navy base and a layer of Basic White, is very simple.  All I added was a 3-3/4" x 4-1/8" piece of the patterned paper, a bow of sheer retired ribbon and a few Classic Matte Dots in white...well except for the one dot on the bottom, which I colored with Night of Navy Blends.

Look at that greeting!  I LOVE the font!  It's from Soft Seedlings, a new stamp set that will be featured in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog and available July 1st.  It was stamped in Night of Navy ink.

Making sympathy cards is never fun, but with paper like Sun Prints, it makes the job just a little bit easier.

Sneak Peek Sun Prints

 My Sneak Peek Week continues and today I'm offering cards made with gorgeous paper!

Sun Prints is a new designer paper; it comes in 12" x 12", with 2 sheets each of 6 double-sided designs (12 sheets in all).  The colors include Night of Navy, Gray Granite and Pacific Point.  And it's beautiful!

I decided to go simple and let the paper do the talking:

These cards came together in minutes, but looks like I spent hours on them.  I merely cut the patterned paper to 4" x 5-1/4" and heat-embossed a greeting.  Then I layered them on Basic White and Night of Navy.  Let's take a closer look:

This got a sentiment from Flowing Flowers, a set that is soon retiring.  But the fonts for the greetings are lovely!  It's heat-embossed with White Embossing Powder, after stamping it in Versamark ink.  Once mounted, I just added three Classic Matte Dots in white. 

Then:

Same idea, but with a greeting from Artistically Inked, and only two Classic Matte Dots.  

And finally:

A birthday card, with a greeting from Paradise Palms.
