The Missing Piece

Yesterday I showed you a card I made using the large background die from the Potted Succulents set (you can see it here).  I mentioned that I had cut out an oval from the middle of the die-cut to make a second card.  Well here is that other card with the "missing piece":

The original die-cut used Granny Apple Green, which you see in the center of this card.  I cut another large background with Basic White, and cut out the center with a Layering Oval die.

I adhered the cut Granny Apple Green piece to the Basic White Oval and matched it to the white die-cut.

And see that green background?  That was added using the new Blending Brushes and Granny Apple Green ink.  These brushes make it so easy to add a color to your projects; start with a light hand and gradually add more color until you get the shade you want.  The brushes make it easy to blend so the background is "smooth".

Two small succulents were stamped, colored with Stampin' Blends and cut with the coordinating dies, and the greeting label is another die from the set.

Just one more way to use your dies with this beautiful stamp set!

Don't miss Simply Succulents!  This is such a lovely and versatile set, one which I'm sure you'll use for all kinds of cards for many years.

More Succulents

Yesterday I showed you a card I made using Simply Succulents, and I have another, completely different one today.

I had a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock that had been die-cut using the background die from Potted  Succulents that was sitting on my desk.  So I decided to play a little.

First I cut an oval, using the Layering Ovals dies, from the center of the die cut piece (HORRORS!).   I saved it for another card I will show you later this week.  But then I had an oval hole in the center of my pretty die-cut, so I needed to cover it up.  More Granny Apple Green to the rescue.

I cut a rectangle large enough to cover the hole, rounded the corners, and added another Stitched Shape oval (ALERT:  The Stitched Shapes dies are retiring soon; if you love them, get them before they are sold out!).  I stamped the greeting and two of the larger succulents using a masking technique, and colored them with the Light and Dark Granny Apple Green Blends.

The flowerpot and small succulents were stamped and colored, then cut with the coordinating dies and added with Dimensionals.

I love the way this card came out...but wait until you see the other one!  ðŸ˜Š

Come back tomorrow to see what I did with the oval of background that is missing from this card.

Simply Succulents

I've been trying to use some of the gorgeous stamp sets from the January - June 2021 Mini Catalog, and realized I have not been showing this one much love.  So I got some creative energy, and made a few cards.  Here's the first:

Although I rarely use a white-on-white scheme, the pretty succulents cried out for a subtle background.  So this is a Basic White card base with a layer of Basic White, embossed with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder.

I stamped, colored with Blends and cut with the coordinating dies, two of the succulent plants.  I also cut a number of the extra die pieces, using Granny Apple Green, Pretty Peacock and Magenta Madness.  And put it all together:

This was just the start of my play with this set...I've got more to share this week.  I'm falling in love all over again!
