Cute Packaging
I like to dress up my packaging, and when I had a customer order a small item, I decided to skip the Stampin' UP! bag and make my own:
I love the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits; it takes just a few minutes to whip up a treat bag or envelope, and you can use cardstock or Designer Series Paper. I used the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack, and stamped right on the paper (using a retired Thank You stamp).
This set of thinlits even has a banner and the words (for you) that I used. The banner was cut with Berry Burst cardstock, and it took a trip through the Big Shot with the Garden Trellis embossing folder. The words were cut from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock; did you notice that yummy 1/4" Ombre Ribbon in Lemon Lime Twist to match? And I layered it all over a Vellum label, punched with the Pretty Label Punch. Easy!
And the perfect way to wrap up some replacement cutting blades for my customer's Stampin' Trimmer!

Mini Treat Bags Meet Paper Pumpkin
I always need lots of treats for Valentines Day, and this year I decided to expand my use of my Paper Pumpkin kit for January. This was such a cute kit (look here to see what you missed) and I decided to use some of my left-over paper (from all the hearts) to punch some smaller hearts for my treat bags.
Take a look:
Using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits dies (ON SALE THIS WEEK, UNTIL MONDAY ONLY!) I created a bunch of treat bags with the Glassine Sheets. What? You didn't know about Glassine Sheets?
Well truth be told, I didn't really know about them either. I had seen them in the Annual Catalog, and thought they might be fun to use for Mini Treat Bags, and then I forgot all about them. But I pulled them off my shelf and look how fun these are!
The Glassine Sheets are very strong, and easily cut and fold into the bags. Then I punched some of the leftover paper using my Sweetheart Punch, stamped using my stamps from Paper Pumpkin, and cut a few banners using coordinating card stock.
The banners were stapled to my bags, using my Handheld Stapler, and then the hearts were added with mini clothespins.
Cute!
Now all I have to do is purchase some yummy candy bars and stuff the bags. Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Retirement!
A good friend and colleague retired yesterday. We have worked together for 16 years, and she has added richness to my life. It's hard to see her go (but I am so happy that she's a stamper, and participates in my monthly card clubs!). She has been a terrific member of my management team (in my real life I am a nurse manager for a healthcare group) so I needed something special from her co-workers and me...here is her card:

We all had fun deciding which animal we are...and the card made her laugh.
Like yesterday's card (see it here), this is a large, square one. I started with an Early Espresso base, 5-1/2" x 5-1/2". I then took a piece (5-1/4" x 5-1/4") of vintage Designer Series Paper and cut a rectangle in the front. This was done (carefully) with my Stampin' Trimmer, as I did not have a die that was the right size.

I repeated the process of cutting the rectangle with a piece of 5-1/8" x 5-1/8" Blushing Bride cardstock, but cut the rectangle a tad bit smaller. Then I layered the striped DSP to the Blushing Bride, leaving a frame of pink inside the DSP.
From the Herd was stamped in Versamark ink on Whisper White cardstock and embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder. Then I colored the animals using the now-not-available Blendabilities. The above frame was placed over this stamped image using Dimensionals, and it was added to the front of the card (also with Dimensionals).

The sentiment was embossed, then cut with the What's Up? punch. I hand cut another arrow, and added some Pearls Basic Jewels that had been colored with the Blendabilities (darn, I wish they were still available! But I'm once again practicing with my Stampin' Write Markers and the Aquapainters, as well as with my favorite Blender Pens, so I'll still be coloring).
Finally a little bow was cut using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits dies, and I created a matching envelope with my Envelope Punch Board.

A Disney Birthday
My youngest grandson turned two last weekend. We made the drive to Escondido, CA to celebrate with my daughter and her family. They had chosen a Mickey Mouse theme, and I have NO Mickey Mouse stamps (can you believe that?). So I had to improvise:

The card is large (5-3/4" x 5-3/4"--fortunately I can make my own envelopes with the Envelope Punch Board!), and it came together beautifully. I started with a Real Red base (using 12" x 12" cardstock), then layered a piece of Daffodil Delight. Next came a skinny layer of Basic Black, topped with Whisper White.

I used Circle Framelits to cut the head and ears, and then cut letters using the Little Letters Thinlits with primary colors--each letter was cut three times and glued one on top of the other. This gave the dimension I was seeking.

Once the letters were adhered to the card, I carefully spread Crystal Effects over the top--yes this was dangerous, as it could have dripped all over the card, but it came out just perfect! WHEW!
The number 2 was cut using Garden Green cardstock with the Perfect Print Numbers Bigz die:

and I popped out a little bow tie using the adorable Bow Builder Punch and some vintage Designer Series Paper.
Of course my envelope needed to match:

Smaller circles did the trick, and this time I didn't cut multiple letters, but it was very cute.

Using the Mini Treat Bags Thinlits I created bags using Basic Black cardstock, then adhered a piece of Real Red to the bottom half. Some Whisper White "buttons" were punched with the 1-3/8" circle punch and I cut Daffodil Delight banners with the Banners Framelits. These took a trip through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (so sad to see that retire!).
The tag was created in My Digital Studio and printed on Whisper White cardstock. They were cut using the Chalk Talk Framelits, and the tag was added to the bag with red clothespins that I purchased in a craft store.

I'm lucky to live close to a Jelly Belly store, and was able to make a special "Mickey Mix" of jellybeans--licorice, Very Cherry and Lemon, tied up in a cello bag with Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.
How very Mickey!
