One More Guy Greetings

Are you sick of Guy Greetings yet?  I don't know why this set has suddenly become a favorite of mine, but as I am awaiting a delivery of all my new goodies from the new catalog I had to play with something.   So here is another Father's Day card:

I love the bold background stripes from the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper.  (yes I know you can't see the "pink" but trust me--there is plenty of Melon Mambo on the reverse side of this oh-so-fun paper!).  And the stripes were the perfect size to stamp my words from the Guy Greetings set--all the descriptives you can use to describe my hubs--brother, husband, uncle and grandpa, along with dad!  I just laid the words out in a straight line, placed my clear block on top (the photopolymer stamps stick really nicely!) and stamped away using Memento Black ink.

I cut the oval using the now-retired Oval Framelits (don't despair--new, fabulous Layering Ovals Framelits are in the new catalog!) using Bermuda Bay card stock.  The banner was stamped and fussy cut, and popped up on Dimensionals.  "Guy" was cut from an old alphabet die that I had--sorry this is not available.

To finish off my card, I used some retired Candy Dots in black and white.  I can't wait to get my new Enamel Shapes (they are in a box, due to arrive Monday!)--they would have been perfect for this card, but alas, haven't yet arrived.  So sad!

Look how fun these will be to add to your creations!  They come in Brights, Regals, Subtles, In Colors and Metallics.  Can't wait to get mine!

Congrats to the Graduate!

My nephew just graduated from high school (congrats Mac!) and here is the card I made him:

The base is Elegant Eggplant, with a layer of Smoky Slate striped paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack and then I used the Large Numbers Framelits dies to cut numbers in a piece of Silver Foil (Mac's high school colors are Purple and Silver).

I backed the foil sheet with Elegant Eggplant, popping it up using the new Foam Adhesive Strips (be sure to keep the "insides" of your numbers - inside the 0 and the 6 - or you just have empty centers).

Then I stamped a series of hats from Guy Greetings using Smoky Slate ink:

The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White, using Memento Black ink, and the end was trimmed into a banner shape.  A "vintage" Elegant Eggplant Candy Dot was added to anchor the sentiment on the foil sheet.

And the inside:  a money holder:

I stamped the Marquee Messages words using Memento Black ink, Elegant Eggplant and Smoky Slate.  The strip of DSP on the top was punched with a circle punch to make it easy to grab the check that will be included.

Since this card measures 4" x 8" I needed to make my own envelope.  Thank goodness for the Envelope Punch Board!

A piece of Neutrals Envelope Paper does the trick.  (I added a small piece of matching DSP to the flap, and punched circles for a closure--this card will be delivered in person). 


I've got one more graduation card to make--and I have the left over silver numbers to use...c'mon back later this week to see what I've done!

Father's Day Card

Father's Day is on it's way, and I have been playing with a few ideas for cards.  I pulled out one of my favorite, yet little used, sets - Guy Greetings, and decided it would be perfect for this "manly" day.

I also thought I'd show off some of the new colors and how they match up to our standard inks.

The card base for this card is Dapper Denim.  I added a mat of Whisper White, on which I stamped the sentiment (also in Dapper Denim).  Then I went to town stamping shoes!

The top row is stamped with Night of Navy, Marina Mist and Dapper Denim.  The middle row uses Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz and Emerald Envy (another new In color).  And the bottom shoes are stamped using Soft Suede, Tip Top Taupe and Chocolate Chip.

Fun and simple, thanks to the photopolymer stamps that you can see right through!

Happy Birthday, Evan!

My son had a birthday this week.  And I had to make him something special, so I turned to Guy Greetings.  Take a look:

This was a fun card to make, as he is SO into his tools!

The base is Basic Black, with a layer of Typset Designer Series Paper on top.  Then comes a piece of Very Vanilla, which is popped up on Dimensionals.  But here is what I did first:

• Stamp "Happy Birthday" from Guy Greetings in Basic Black Archival ink
• Stamp the tools in Basic Black, cut them out 
• Stamp the banner and cut it out
• Cut Little Letters in Basic Black and Very Vanilla

Time to layer it all on the card, and then add a few Basic Black Candy Dots.  And done!

Happy Fathers Day!

Quick post, as I'm on my way to visit my folks, 3000 miles from home!  I'm going to miss most of Fathers Day, so I'm bringing my dad a special card:

I stamped Lovely as a Tree on Whisper White card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then stamped the car from Guy Greetings.  I stamped the car again, and fussy cut it, popping it up on Dimensionals.  The sentiment is also from Guy Greetings.

This is layered on Basic Black.  Then a piece of Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper, layered onto a Basic Black base.  The size of my card is 5" x 6-1/2", so I used the same DSP to create a custom envelope.

Layered Letters let me align "DAD" on the envelope without a fuss!

New Toys!

Gee, you'd think it was Christmas!  I have a whole pile of new toys to play with (and share--yes,  I CAN share!).  Being a Stampin' UP! demonstrator definitely has its perks, and one of them is that I get to pre-order new stamps, papers and accessories before my customers.

So today, I thought I would share one of the new stamps, Guy Greetings, (#137178, $25.95) from the new Occasions Catalog, going live on January 6th!  This wonderful set will help me with so many of my "guy cards" this year--there are 22 stamps for lots of occasions. 

My hubby's birthday is the day after Christmas!  Can you believe anyone is THAT unlucky?   LOL!
That means that I'm usually not thinking of making a birthday card, but then the night before (yes, Christmas night!) there I am slaving away in my craft cave trying to make myself look good the next day...
This year we were in San Diego for the holiday, and didn't come home until his birthday.  So...(and I should at least get points for this) I actually had a gift AND had made a gift box (using the Gift Box Punch Board (#135863, $19.95), which happily carries over into the new catalog...whew!)  But I had not had time to make a card, so on his birthday, after we drive 10+ hours home (and he's snoring away in bed) I get out some new toys and create this:

Love it!  And to my credit (if anyone is giving that out), the card WAS completed on his birthday--he just didn't see it until he came down for coffee this morning. 

Lots of new goodies here:  first the stamp set:

I took the banner and the shoes and heat-embossed them with Early Espresso embossing powder (#128980, $4.95).  AND fussy-cut them out (yes, I did!).  My Very Vanilla cardstock (#101650, $8.50) was stamped with "husband" in Lost Lagoon (#133644, $5.95), and the sentiment in Early Espresso (#126974, $4.95).  (I also embossed just the top and bottom edges with a vintage Houndstooth Embossing Folder).

New Designer Series Paper:  For the first time ever, Stampin' UP! is offering a 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" paper stack called Adventure Bound (#137780, $6.95), with actual nature photos on one side and designs on the other.  They are so cool!  I chose the Early Espresso Houndstooth pattern (the back side is rope--really neat!) and trimmed it to 4" x 4-3/4".  Then I used the Deco Labels Framelits (#130102, $24.95) to cut out the label in the center.

I also used my Finishing Touches Edgelits (127010, $9.95) to create the sawtooth edges in Early Espresso and adhered the strips to the top and bottom of my DSP.  This was then popped up over the Very Vanilla, using Dimensionals (#104430, $3.95).  And it was all added to an Early Espresso (#119686, $6.95)base.  I also stuck three Early Espresso Candy Dots (130934, $5.95) in the middle to finish it off. 

Letting nothing go to waste, I used the cut out label for the inside of my card, and stamped Happy Birthday in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla; after flagging the ends using the Hexagon punch (#130919, $15.95), I just adhered it with SNAIL (#104332, #6.95) adhesive. 

Finally, an envelope:

Another strip of the DSP with a leftover edge of the edgelit saw-tooth strip was glued to my envelope.  Then I used another new item,  Sophisticated Serifs (#137161, $45.95), (an alphabet stamp with two sizes, perfect for creating monogrammed stationary!) to add his name.
