A Fun-fold Birthday

What could be more fun that a star-spangled birthday card?

How about a star-studded, FUN FOLD birthday card?

You may remember this fold - I did a few some weeks ago, and I had one left on my desk. So I put the pieces together and completed it with some stars.

Start with a piece of cardstock (Sweet Sorbet here) measuring 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", and score at 4-1/4". From the center score line, cut on a diagonal to the bottom corner of the front of the card.

The front flap measures 3" x 8", scored at 4". The back side is tucked under the inside layer, then folds over the front diagonal. As the card opens, it begins to reveal the inside message:

Need Quick & Easy?

Who needs a card that can be made in minutes? ✋

Have you noticed the Bright & Beautiful Memories & More Cards & Envelopes in the 2023-24 Annual Catalog on page 135? These pretty, pre-colored cards and envelopes make crafting easy! Just add a greeting or a stamped image to the front, and you're ready to go. Look:

I love that background, in Azure Afternoon, Bubble Gum and Lemon Lime Twist. But as the colors fade into the one next to it, you'll notice a whole array of colors: Berry Burst, Blueberry Bushel, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lolly, Lost Lagoon, Misty Moonlight and Pretty Peacock! And you get 20 of these cards and envelopes in every package.

I decided to focus on new products, so I stamped balloons from Beautiful Balloons (in the matching colors of Bubble Gum, Lemon Lime Twist and Azure Afternoon) and cut them with the coordinating Beautiful Balloons dies. I also stamped some of the strings in Night of Navy ink.

The new Wanted to Say dies are the bomb! Four everyday phrases with double dies--a "fat background" die and a detailed word die. Plus several extra elements to add to your greetings. I cut the background in Night of Navy and the detailed die in Lemon Lime Twist with Adhesive Sheets on the back. They peel off very easily, and I was able to create a super greeting for my card in minutes.

All I needed were a few Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins and my card was done! And who wouldn't love to get happy mail in this envelope?

Circle Celebration

I am having so much fun playing with new products! Today I combined a few new things to create this card:

What do you recognize?

First let's look at the colors. I pulled my Lemon Lime Twist (a former favorite when it was an In Color several years ago) and matched it up with Blueberry Bushel (another former In Color).

And I combined a few stamp sets: Circle Sayings, Beautiful Balloons (both new) and Artistically Inked (for the greeting).

And there are two new embossing folders: the polka dots and the "hash marks" are both folders from the new set of three Basics embossing folders, available on the OnLine Exclusives page.

And finally the dies - that fringe is made with one of the Beautiful Balloons dies.

Who remembers (years ago) when dots were in vogue? We put white dots on all our cards, using s Signo White Gel Pen. Well Stampin' UP! no longer sells these, but I happened to have a Gelly Roll pen and pulled it out to create a little extra focus on my balloons.
