Have you seen the new Party Banners dies? Wowsa! SO BIG! They are perfect for creating banners of differing sizes, but they can also make cards. Wanna see?
I recently participated in a card swap with demonstrators around the country. I wanted to use the dies to make a card, so I started experimenting.
Here's my first try:
I made a shaker card incorporating the Party Alphabet dies with the Party Banner dies. Although I liked the way it came out, it was a lot of work to line up the "happy BIRTHDAY" from Choose Happy under the cut-out letters.
So on to sample 2:
I kinda thought I was on to something here - cutting the banners in three coordinating colors and adding a cut-out in the center to feature a stamped image from Encircled with Love. But it seemed to be missing something...
So one more try (it's only paper, right? 😒). This time I chose a different image from Encircled with Love, one with a bolder background. I stamped it in Pretty Peacock ink, and cut the banners with Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon and Pool Party for a pretty monochrome look.
Each layer has a hole in the center - I used graduated sizes of the Stylish Shapes dies to cut them, laying my stamped image right inside the smaller hole. The layers are popped up on Dimensionals to lift them above the stamped image.
And did you note the embossing on the Pool Party layer? One of the Glass & Gardens embossing folders (there are two in the package) created this pretty detail.
And finally, the leaves on the front to coordinate with the leaves on the stamp, along with the tiny flowers - cut with the Impressions Abloom dies.
Sometimes it takes awhile to get just the card I want out of my head and into my hands...and I usually succeed, even though I may go through a few iterations first. Does that happen to you?
