Happy Birthday, Charlotte!

I love this fun pop-out card featuring one of my favorite patterned paper packs, Full of Life:

Charlotte turned 8 on Saturday, and she loves sparkles and dancing.  This is a card to celebrate her!

The Full of Life paper is on full display on the card front.  I added the words from Wanted to Say, along with her initials cut with the Mini Alphabet dies.  Petunia Pop is the featured color.

As much fun as the outside is, take a look inside for a surprise:

This pop-out style card has four panels on a band that folds opposite the inside of the card, popping out the panels when opened.  Each is decorated with die cuts:

balloons and candles from retired sets, and a cake:

from Attention Shoppers.

Happy Birthday to Charlotte!

Seaside Wishes Meets "What's On My Desk"

This card started as a "what's on the desk" card.  This is where I raid my "island of misfit pieces" and make a card with them.  I had the Basic White arch die cut (Garden Meadow dies) along with the Pool Party "sea urchin" (is that what this is?) and started to play:

I decided something needed to be under the sea urchin, and chose to create three sand dollars with the Seaside Wishes Hybrid Embossing folder.  After cutting/embossing (at the same time!) them with Basic Beige cardstock, I dirtied them up with a little sponging and Crumb Cake ink.  They look so real!

It was easy to put it all together with a piece of Country Woods designer paper in the background.  The arch was stamped with a greeting from the Garden Meadow stamp set, and then I cut a little sea grass with the Seaside Wishes dies and some Lost Lagoon cardstock.

When it was done I liked it so much that I used it for my August Card Club and everyone got a chance to make it.  And all because of a few scraps on my desk.  I guess I should never throw them out!  (Just tell that to my husband...😏).

Bridge-fold Birthday Card

My granddaughter, Matilyn, just celebrated her 6th birthday.  I thought it would be fun to make her a special card - at this age, cards just don't hold their attention.  But my son told me that, although she tossed all her other cards aside, this one kept her enthralled for the entire evening.  Take a look:

This is a bridge-fold card, a standard-sized card (4-1/4" x 11") but with a "bridge" that helps it stand up and gives you extra space to decorate.

After cutting my Thick Basic White cardstock to 4-1/4" x 11", I scored it at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  Folding it in half, I then folded the front piece "back" over the front of the card.

I also cut a "bridge" - 1" x 11" of cardstock, also scored at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2", but also at 8-1/4".

The card folds up and looks like this when pulled from the envelope.  Then, opened, it expands:

I started by creating clouds (using a stencil cut from the Basic Borders dies with Blending Brushes), and then I attached the "bridge".  This is adhered across the bottom of the card, but the center fold is a "mountain" fold (popping forward) instead of following the inside fold of the card base.

Using the Cutest Cows bundle (stamps and punch) along with the now-retired Counting Sheep stamps (and coordinating Sheep dies), I made a farmyard scene of partying animals.

Everybody is wearing party hats;

and one brought the balloons!

If you've never tried a bridge-fold, give it a go; I think you'll have fun!
