Not Monday, but still Merry!

I've got a pretty Christmas card today that was one of our Sunday Crafternoon class offerings.  It features the pretty Shining Christmas DSP - the bottom half of the card is foiled, for a really beautiful shine!

This simple layout allows the DSP to "shine" (no pun intended) without taking away from the focal image of the poinsettias.

These were stamped with an image from Rustic Crate, colored with Stampin' Blends, and cut with the coordinating Rustic Crate dies.

Mounted on a Stylish Shape circle over a Mossy Meadow scalloped circle, it stands out, even with the foiled paper below.

And check out that ribbon and those pearls!  They were colored with Stampin' Blends to match our project colors.  This was our technique for the month.

This simple layout is one of my favorites; I never get tired of highlighting pretty paper with a simple image!

What's your favorite, go-to card layout?

Beary Cute for Merry Monday

It's another Merry Monday, and I've got one of the fun-fold cards we made in my Cards-by-Mail class this month.

Featuring the Beary Cute stamp set and Beary Christmas patterned paper, we had bears that were either punched from the paper (and they wore sweaters!) or "naked" bears with just a jaunty scarf to keep them warm.

The fold of this card is quite easy.  Start with a piece of cardstock that is 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 2-1/8" and 5-1/2".  Make a mark at 2-1/8" on the end of the card (on the end with the scored section at 2-1/8").  Cut from the score line to the mark to create a point on the end of your card.  This folds back over the top, creating a triangle, on which you add your coordinating cardstock (in this case, a Very Vanilla square cut to 2-3/4" x 2-3/4" and Flirty Flamingo cut to 2-1/2" x 2-1/2").

Then for the inside:

We added DSP to both ends with a piece of Very Vanilla inside for a greeting.

I expect someone will enjoy this fun, cheery fun-fold card this Christmas!  Don't you?

Neat Trick

I'm still not exactly sure why I had to purchase It's a Science.  For some reason I just really liked it and thought it would be fun to work with.  And I think I'm right - look:

I made this card for my grandson's birthday and wanted to add a little extra pizzazz.

So after stamping the beaker I added some Snowfall Accents Puff Paint, heated it and watched it grow!  So cute!

Then I used my Parakeet Party Stampin' Blends marker to lightly color it, and finished it off with a little Wink of Stella.

I love the added dimension.

And did you notice the bubbles?

I added some gems, colored with coordinating Blends markers for each test tube.  ðŸ’–

I don't often invest in pun-filled or funny sets, but I may have to get more...this came out so cute!

Simple Merry Monday

Here's a very simple panorama card for Merry Monday:

Using designer paper from the One Horse Open Sleigh pack, I cut a piece into 5 strips, varying the width and length.  Then I adhered them to a piece of Early Espresso leaving a small space between each strip.

This technique is fun and interesting - your eye is fooled into ignoring the spaces and creating the entire scene without interruption.  The only tricky part is ensuring each strip "matches" the ones next to it so that the scene flows - the fence, the horizon, the house and the trees are all lined up perfectly.

With a Pool Party base this card becomes a non-traditional Christmas card.  Would you have thought of it as a holiday card without seeing the greeting?  I don't know - I think this could also be used as a birthday or "thinking of you" card.  Isn't it great to have versatility?

One Horse Open Sleigh is available now; you will love the beautiful, serene scenes depicted on each page.  It's perfect for holiday cards, yet can be used for so much more.  Give it a try!
