Grateful All Around

When I saw the Tidings All Around set, with coordinating All-Around Wreath dies, I first thought Christmas.  But after playing a little with it, I knew it would make a fabulous Fall/Thanksgiving card.  Take a look:

And with the "weathered brick" background, doesn't it just look like something you would see on a country farmhouse this month?

I used my favorite Designer Series Paper, See a Silhouette, for the leaves, cutting them out with the wreath dies.  A base of Garden Green (also cut with the dies) helped me layer a lovely wreath.

The dies also include the "sprigs" and the "branches", which I cut with Merry Merlot and Gold Foil, and then they were woven in among the leaves

Itty Bitty Greetings provided the perfect sentiment when stamped on a frame cut with the Ornate Frames dies.  I simply threaded a piece of Linen Thread through the ends and wrapped it around the front of the card.

Although the color is slightly off in this photo, you can really see the weathering of the brick background.  I inked the Brick and Mortar embossing folder with Whisper White Craft ink, inserted my Merry Merlot cardstock, closed the folder and ran it through my die cutting machine.  This adds the ink to the "mortar" and some of the bricks, giving it that weathered look.  LOVE!

This is an easy card to reproduce, so I think I'll be making several for my greetings to family and friends this Thanksgiving season.

If you like my card, I would so love you to vote for it.  Click the link.  I'm number 13.  Thanks!

Dino Days for a Big Brother

Yesterday I shared a card that I made for a new baby.  And I mentioned the one I made for the baby's big brother.  Here it is:

Isn't that cute?

Dino Days has super-sweet dinosaur images plus some cute phrases.  And check out that palm tree - also included in the stamp set AND the coordinating dies!  I chose Pretty Peacock as my main color to match the Dinoroar designer series paper.

My "Big Brother" Dino was stamped in Pretty Peacock, cut with the dies and I added the scales, stamped in Crushed Curry (they have a matching die too!).

The egg is also a die; I used Whisper White, and sponged a little Pool Party on the edges.

And see that baby Dino?  It is from the DSP, and cut out with my Scan 'N Cut so that I would have a little version of the big Dino.  So cute!

I did a little masking and cutting to create the sentiment - three different stamp sets gave me the three words (Dino Days, Animal Outing, and an old Paper Pumpkin stamp).

I heard that John loved his card and his Big Brother gift.  I kinda loved his card too!  😁

The Dinoroar suite is available now; check it out in the Annual Catalog!

Welcome Little One

When we sold our house last spring, we knew that the couple who bought it was expecting (they had just found out).  This week we are visiting our old community, and we dropped by our old house with a little baby gift.  Naturally I "needed" to include a hand-made card:

I thought Animal Outing would be a cute set to use, as I love the kangaroo with the koala bear in her pouch!

This is a "fun fold" card, a slight change to the usual 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" size, although that IS the size of the card.  I cut my Soft Seafoam cardstock to 4-1/4" x 11", but I cut 2-3/4" off the front piece, flipped it on its side, and used that as the front panel.

My "roo" was stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Crumb Cake blends (I had to research colors of kangaroos!).   I used Smoky Slate for the koala.

Happily, Animal Outing has coordinating dies, so it was a piece of cake to cut out my image. I was also able to stamp the branch (colored with Shaded Spruce) and cut it out (I had to "dismember" the little frog that was sitting on the branch--he just didn't fit on my card).

A little careful masking gave me my sentiment (the words are actually "Welcome Little One" but I had already cut the "Welcome" from Well Written dies).

Opening the card, you can see how the front panel works.

My colors are Soft Seafood and Shaded Spruce.  The gingham check on the front is from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Pack.

We dropped our gift off at our old house this morning; I also left a little something for this baby's big brother, who we got to know during the house-selling.  Come back tomorrow to see the card I made for John.

Thanks for visiting!
