Miss You!

I'm sad...
My daughter-in-law's parents have moved.  They used to live about 40 minutes from my home, and we often got together to share a meal and a laugh and enjoy our combined families.
Now they're gone...6  hours to the south.  I know we'll always be friends, but I miss them already.  So here's a card I made, using the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #139.  Here's the sketch:

Lots of retired goodies on this card, some of which I barely played with before they retired (darn that Sale-a-Bration! <grin>).

My base is Calypso Coral, with a layer of Whisper White.  I used the square framelits to cut my Crisp Cantaloupe square, and used the corner rounder on all four corners.  The top half was run through my Big Shot with the vintage Clouds embossing folder.

The houses (from You Brighten My Day) were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with the now-gone Blendabilities.  They were punched out with the What's Up punch.  I paper-snipped some grass from Wild Wasabi card stock.

My sun was double stamped--using the "sun" from So You, I first stamped it on the corner of my Whisper White Layer, and again on a piece from the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper.  I snipped each ray, and added it to my card.  Finally, the sentiments from Just Sayin' and Holiday Home were stamped, cut (Word Bubbles) and punched (Banner Punch).  And three candy dots from the Subtles Collection kept me true to the sketch.

It makes me feel a little better to send this card to my friends...but not much...

Love You More Than Chocolate

What?  No way...
Nothing trumps my chocolate.  But I must admit that this stamp set, Lovely Amazing You, has some great sentiments, and I was hooked.  (Not enough to give up my chocolate, though)

I was playing around with ideas for an anniversary card for my hubby, and this is one of the cards that evolved (I ended up using another; see it here).  But I do like how this came out, and I'm sure I'll use it for another occasion.

I started by scoring my Whisper White card stock layer at every 1 inch on my Simply Scored Scoring board, using the diagonal plate.  And I did it on the back side of the paper, so that it looks embossed.  I stamped the sentiment using Early Espresso ink on Whisper White card stock, and cut it out using the Hearts Collection framelits.  A second heart (Early Espresso) was cut and paper pierced, using the Occasions template pack and a paper piercing tool.

My card base is Early Espresso, with a layer of DSP from the Neutrals Paper Stack.  Little banners were cut using the DSP also, and adhered at the top.  "Love you" was stamped, using Banner Banter, and punched with the Banner Punch, and "I Heart You", from And Many More, was stamped and cut out using an arrow from the On Film Framelits.

The final touch was adding Pearls Basic Jewels, colored with an Early Espresso Blendability pen (sorry...I still have mine and am using them!) and added to each intersection of the diagonal score lines.


A nice card for expressing how much you love chocolate!  <grin>

Just Kidding

When I saw this stamp set I laughed out loud.  I felt pretty silly, as I was sitting in a room full of people, sneaking a peek at my iPad.  I had gone to the Stampin' UP! home page and the Just Kidding set was being introduced.  I burst out laughing, and then had to confess to everyone what I was doing...a little embarrassing, but we all got a good laugh out of it.

So naturally, I HAD to have this set.  And the other day, I found the perfect excuse to use it.  A good friend and colleague had a birthday...need I mention that neither of us are spring chickens, nor are we skinny-minis?  This is her card:

I've never been one for cartoon-y stamps.  But this was such fun to color and the sentiments make you chuckle...look at the inside:

This card is a "folded-corner" card.  With some careful scoring, the top right corner folds over and creates a square on which to layer a stamped image.

The card base is a piece of Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper that was part of the Sale-a-Bration offerings.  I sponged it with an ombre look, using Marina Mist, Soft Sky and So Saffron inks.

And although not a perfect match, I ran the flap of the envelope through my Big Shot with the Fancy Fan embossing folder, dressing it up on the back. 

I can't wait to use this set again...
