Retirement (and I don't mean stamps!)

This time of year, the word "retirement" brings to mind stamps and accessories, as a new catalog is released and we say goodbye to those being "put out to pasture".

But today I'm focusing on an actual "retirement"--a doctor with whom I've worked for 15 years is retiring from his practice.  I needed a card to wish him well, and I found something on Stampin' Connection (a demonstrator only web site with thousands of samples), but now I can't find it and will not be able to give that person credit.  But the card was perfect!

I began with a Whisper White base.  I stamped World Map in Staz On Black ink on Whisper White, and cut it into for panels.  Each was mounted on a slightly larger piece of Basic Black card stock, and they were carefully lined up and adhered to the card base.

I stamped the sentiment from Starburst Sayings two times using Staz On ink, and snipped out the W-O-R-L-D from one of them.  Then I ran the other through the Big Shot, using the Starburst framelits, and added this to a circle of Basic Black.  And my little "W-O-R-L-D" banner was popped up with Dimensionals.

The little "thank you" was done the same way (Starburst famelits and circle punch).  Then, after adhering a strip of 3/4" black Chevron Ribbon, the sentiments were added.  I also took an arrow from Essentials Wooden Elements, pressed it onto a Versamark pad and sprinkled on black embossing powder.  After heat setting, this was added to the front with Mini Glue Dots

The inside had to be special too...so I "embossed" the outer edges by turning the card stock upside down and scoring with my Simply Scored board

The sentiment from Really Good Greetings and Teeny Tiny Wishes were lined up with my Stamp-a-ma-Jig for perfect placement and stamped in Staz On.

I wish him well, and hope you enjoyed this card.

I'd Love to be Your Stampin' UP Demonstrator!

I so enjoy my customers!  It's you who keep me in business, allowing me to create and share ideas AND (of course!) to order new stamps and accessories.

So when someone places an order, I like to send a thank you card.  Here's a recent one:

Using one of my favorite new stamps, Work of Art, I used just one stamp (the big "swoosh") to create a rainbow.  Can you believe I actually had to google rainbows to see what the order of the colors is?  So I can guarantee that this rainbow is atmospherically (is that a word?) correct!

Stamped, from the bottom, on Whisper White card stock, is Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.  This layer is adhered to a slightly larger piece of Daffodil Delight, and it's all added to a Whisper White base.

A special stamp set that I won at a Convention a few years ago provides me with my sentiment (from Workshop Words), which I cut with circle framelits and added to a "sun" of Daffodil Delight cut with the Starburst framelits.  This is popped up with Dimensionals, and a little heart (from the Owl punch) is layered over the "v".

And why send a special card in a boring envelope?  I added the swoosh in Daffodil Delight (stamped twice) to the front so my customer's name and address will stand out.

Blendabilities

A new, and sure to be popular, accessory in our new Inspire, Create, Share Stampin' UP catalog are the Blendabilities.  These alcohol markers make artists out of anyone--the smooth coloring and easy-to-blend attributes make it fun to add color to stamped images. They come packaged in sets of three markers--one of the markers in each set is a true Stampin' UP color, and the other two are lighter or darker shades which blend together beautifully.

For my recent new catalog open house, I created a make-and-take for all attendees to put together, and everyone got a chance to color with the Blendabilities.

Vivid Vases was stamped in Memento Black ink (this is a MUST when using alcohol markers, as Staz On will smear).  We used the Whisper White Note Cards, with an added layer.  Then we went to town coloring, using the Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive collections of Blendabilities.

The colored layer was adhered to a piece of Coastal Cabana, and some of the new Thick Bakers Twine in Coastal Cabana was wrapped and tied around the layer.

Cute card, and everyone enjoyed playing with the Blendabilities.

Blendabilities are not yet ready for prime time ordering--Stampin' UP has delayed their release a few more weeks until they have supply enough to meet demand.  I'm sure you'll find the delay is worth the wait--these markers are fantastic!

Work of Art

One of my favorite new stamp sets from the new Inspire, Create, Share Catalog is Work of Art (and from the reactions of those of you who have used it at my workshops, I think this is going to be a favorite of everyone's!).  The set is packed with images that can be used in so many ways--a really versatile set.

Here is a card we made at my new catalog open house:

This also incorporates ALL of the new In Colors--luscious, rich and fabulous!  Blackberry Bliss was used for the main "swoosh", then Tangelo Twist was layered on top.  Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey were the final colors added before stamping the sentiment in Staz On Black.

Mossy Meadow, the final color, was cut using the On Film framelits, to frame our "work of art".  Then a piece of Hello Honey Double Stitched Ribbon (so easy to work with) was tied in the corner for an added splash of vibrant color.

This card was simple, but so effective, and can be used for a variety of occasions, from birthdays to thank yous, to "just because's".

Would you like to join the fun?  This set is now available as are all the new In Colors.  Order here.
