I Spy With My Little Eye...

Wanna see something new?  I just got back from OnStage in Salt Lake City, where Stampin' UP! introduced the upcoming Annual Catalog.

Oooh, it's always SO exciting to see this!

And although I'm in the midst of a big move to another state, I had to find a little time to play.  So here's a simple card, using something new...can you spy the new product(s)?

I needed a quick thank you card for the Davis firefighters, who invited my husband and me to dinner tonight.  We've known several of them for years (my husband worked for the City, and was in charge of the budgets for Police and Fire) and they wanted to say goodbye.  So we went to the station, where they had prepared a lovely tri-tip and chicken dinner (complete with baked potatoes, asparagus and salad!) and we ate between their calls.  It took us nearly 3 hours to finish dinner, as they had to run out on 3 different emergency calls!  But it was so lovely of them to invite us.

So...back to my card.  What do you see that is new?  Let me give you a hint - it's NOT the "Thank You" or the Pinewood Planks embossing folder (on the Soft Suede panel).  And it's not the Rectangle Stitched Framelits; they've been around a few months now.

Ding, ding, ding!  It's the gorgeous new paper - Mosaic Mood.  It's a beautiful, heavy-weight designer paper, with shiny accents.  And I used two of the patterns for the background and the sentiment panels.

I also used retiring paper, Wood Textures, to cut my letters using the Thank You dies (thankfully NOT retiring!).

I liked this card so much that I decided I needed to make a second one, but with a more feminine feel:

Isn't it amazing how two cards can look so different, even when using the same layout?  This time I added an extra Mint Macaron panel (embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder) and cut the words three times (in Garden Green, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla) and stacked them slightly offset.

And look at this ribbon!  It's a new Scalloped Lace Trim, coming in June.  So pretty, and ties into a perfect bow!

I'm already loving this new paper, and can't wait for more of my new products to arrive tomorrow.  Except that my craft room is getting packed, so I probably won't be able to play for another week or two!  Yikes!  However will I survive?  ðŸ˜•

Stay tuned for more samples from OnStage; I'll be showcasing them over the next several days.

And be sure to grab the items on the retiring list that are on your wish list!  They won't be around for long!

Humming Along Sneak Peek

Here's another Sneak Peek of images coming soon in the Occasions Catalog:

When I was at OnStage Live in Orlando, Florida, Stampin' UP!'s 30th anniversary party, one of the "all attendee give-aways" was the set, Humming Along.  It's a beauty!

And during the lunches each day in Orlando, when we opened our boxes we found notes signed by staff - a lovely gesture and such a surprise!  On my first day, I had a note signed by Maria A, and she wanted me to "have a lovely day".

Well I thought maybe Maria deserved a lovely day too, so I made her a thank you note using this lovely stamp set.

The set has this gorgeous flower image, as well as a beautiful hummingbird; both are line images and perfect for coloring.

I'm not coloring expert but I do love coloring with Stampin' Blends, so I was thrilled to get this set.

I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black ink on Whisper White Cardstock.  I colored it with the Real Red combo Stampin' Blends, Light Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody Light, and the combo of Shaded Spruce.  I outlined the edge of the flower with a Light Smoky Slate Blend, to add a little depth.  And although hard to see, I also painted on some Wink of Stella for a subtle sparkle.

The lovely sentiment was stamped was stamped and then I took a Shaded Spruce Stampin' Write Marker and flicked the ink for a "splatter" effect all over the front of the card.

The card base is Basic Black.  There are two "crooked" layers, one of Real Red and one of Shaded Spruce, and the main panel is set straight on top.

As you can see, the leaf from the set was stamped and colored on the front of the envelope - no one likes a naked envelope!

Put this set on your shopping list!  You're going to love it!  The Occasions catalog will make it's debut, along with Sale-a-Bration, staring January 3rd.  I can't wait to share it with you!

Today is the Day!

Crafters, start your computers!  It's time to order new stamps, papers and accessories from the brand-spankin' new Occasions Catalog!  And with every $50 purchase, you qualify for a FREE Sale-a-Bration item too; how can you go wrong?

Here's a card I made with one of the FREE offerings from Sale-a-Bration, Heartfelt Blooms:

I needed two thank you notes for special ladies, and reached for this spectacular new stamp.  This is made using a new process--the new "Distinktive" stamps lay down the ink at different opacities giving the finished image more depth.  Although the stamp has hardly any raised rubber, the resulting stamped image is gorgeous!

I only wanted to create in black and white.  So this stamp was inked with Tuxedo Black and stamped on Whisper White cardstock.  I trimmed it to size, stamped the sentiment (from the same set), mounted it on Basic Black and added it to my Thick Whisper White cardstock base (on which I adhered some retired black and white DSP).  All it needed was a small piece of Black Shimmer Ribbon, stapled in the corner.

Want to see a repeat?

Similar card - the stamp was flipped to the opposite side of the paper, but otherwise the card is just about the same.  I changed out the ribbon for some of the (now retired but still available) black rhinestones.

This set can be yours with a $50 purchase.  FREE!

Check out the new Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs; there is so much to see (and order) and you don't want to miss out on the biggest sale of the year--Sale-a-Bration!

Need a catalog?  Contact me, if you don't already have a Stampin' UP! demonstrator, and I'll be happy to get one right out to you.

Eclectic Thank You

This was one of my thank you cards for orders placed in July:

I still LOVE Oh So Eclectic and the coordinating Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  And this interesting color combo made for a stunning card:  Elegant Eggplant, Smoky Slate, Berry Burst and Flirty Flamingo, with Emerald Envy.

The Eclectic Layers Thinlits have pieces that cut and others that emboss.  I used both for this card:  see those embossed "twig" designs in the corner?  I also embossed some leaves on the left side of the card.

The flowers are all two-step-stamped, then cut with the thinlit dies.  The larger flower has a Clear Faceted Gem in the center; I also added some Rhinestone Jewels randomly on the card.

And of course, a matching envelope--the single flower was stamped on the front.  So pretty, and gives just a hint of what's to come.

You can place orders by using the link at the side, or clicking here; I'll be sure to send you a hand-made thank you card.  But be sure to list your name and address when you order--if you click "no contact" I won't know who you are and can't send a card.

Take a look at Oh So Eclectic; I think you'll love it as much as I do!
