A Guitarist's Birthday

My brother-in-law is a professional classical guitarist, so imagine my delight at having the Music From the Heart stamp set with which to create his birthday card:

There's so much to love about this card!  Let's start with the guitar.  The stamp set has two pieces, that when stamped together, make the guitar with a little heart in the middle.  So cute!  Stamped on Thick Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink, I then fussy cut it with my Paper Snips.

Then there's that greeting from Label Me Bold.  Perfect, stamped in Pretty Peacock and snipped out.  And that musical background?  That's Sheet Music, stamped with Bermuda Bay ink on Vellum, and immediately sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.  LOVE!

I layered the Sheet Music Vellum inside a Basic Black frame (cut with two sizes of the Stitched Rectangle dies) and mounted it over some of the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper (FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration--which ends in a few more days!).

The card base is Pretty Peacock with a layer of Bermuda Bay...a nice masculine combo along with black.

Have a music lover in your life?  Music from the Heart is a must-have for your collection!  Check it out.

Let's Send Cards!

I feel helpless!  How about you?

With all the crazy news about corona virus, quarantining, school closures, maintaining social distance, toilet paper runs (?), no large gatherings, and now restaurant closures, life has been turned upside down.  We're taking precautions, even refraining from visiting our grandson, so I'm feeling a bit "unnecessary" in this life.  As a former RN, I'm thinking there is something I should be doing...oh wait!  There is!  Staying home!

So here we are...staying home.  What to do?

Well, the good news is that I have LOTS of crafting supplies, so I've decided to make and send cards to everyone I know.  Just staying in touch makes me feel a little better.

How about this?

Not like we really CAN forget, but hoping this brings a smile to someone's face.

Music from the Heart is a beautiful stamp set, inspired by Million Dollar Sales Achiever Dawn Olchefske.  For any music lover, THIS is a set to get!

The card base is Call Me Clover, with a skinny Basic Black layer.  I used the Golden Honey DSP for the music notes (stamped in Call Me Clover ink), but the set also includes a stamp with lines to create your own staff.

The piano and Treble-clef were stamped with Tuxedo Black, colored with Call Me Clover Stampin' Blends and fussy cut.  The Layering Circles and Stitched Shapes dies gave me the perfect focal point for my piano.

This card is going to my dad.  He's 92, cares for my 91-year old mom who has dementia, and they live with my sister and her husband.  Stressful times for them, so I'm hoping a little levity may help for a few minutes.

What are you doing to keep yourself busy?

Don't forget - Stampin' UP! products can be ordered online, so no need to have any personal contact (I hate that I'm even saying that!), and I would be happy to send you ideas for your stamp sets.  And you can check out my Pinterest Board for Sketch Ideas, here.

Stay healthy, stay busy, and STAY HOME!  And don't forget to STAMP!

You Rock!

One of my favorite new stamp sets from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog is Music From the Heart.  This extremely versatile set features musical instruments, music notes and cute phrases.  I made this card for my classical guitar-playing brother:

Yeah, OK, it says "You rock!" and he plays classical, but as far as being a brother, he really does rock!

I love the guitar, but I really love the piano keys!

Stamped several times side by side, I then cut close to the edge of the paper to make the ripply edge.

I also stamped the music notes randomly around the Whisper  White cardstock to create my own background paper.

The guitar was stamped and fussy-cut, then mounted with Dimensionals to a Basic Black banner (using the Banner Triple Punch) which was adhered to a black oval cut with the Stitched Shapes dies, and then on to a Bermuda Bay Layering Oval.

The greetings were stamped using Tuxedo Black ink directly onto Bermuda Bay cardstock.

Wishing my brother a very happy birthday!

Music from the Heart is available now.
