Welcome back to my series of cards from the birthday gift I created for a colleague (see the past few posts).
Today's card uses the beautiful background stamp, Pleasant Poppies.
But you'll notice that it also has another background stamp--En Francais! (Love this!) And I stamped both on a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Retro Fresh collection...I was so happy with the results!
My base card is a standard 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Coastal Cabana Card stock, scored at 5-1/2".
Using a piece of the small coastal cabana print from the Retro Fresh DSP, I carefully stamped En Francais in Coastal Cabana. I actually gasped when I saw the results--just gorgeous!
I then stamped my Pleasant Poppies using Baked Brown Sugar--I wanted the lines, but wanted them subtle, and BBS was the perfect choice!
The flowers were colored using Blender Pens and Stampin' Write Markers in Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Strawberry Slush, Melon Mambo and Old Olive.
A sentiment from Four You was stamped on Very Vanilla using Coastal Cabana ink.
A strip of Crisp Cantaloupe, punched with my Scallop Trim Border punch was added and adhered to the card front.
After stamping Pleasant Poppies in Coastal Cabana on the envelope (and of course, finishing the inside of my card with a piece of Very Vanilla and a Scallop Trim border) I was done.
Please visit again tomorrow for the next card from my gift.
And let's get creating.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Wishing you all a lovely Valentine's Day--I hope you are spending it with someone you LOVE!
Another mish-mash Valentine's Day card, using everything but the kitchen sink! Popular at my February Card Club!
This one uses En Francais, stamped in Versamark, heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder, and trimmed with an edgelit along the right side. It's then mounted on a piece of Basic Black cardstock. The Real Red card base was embossed with the Sophisticated Stripes embossing folder and the Big Shot, and a 2" layer of the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (with the gold hearts) was added. Then came the layer with En Francais, and a few strips of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape helps hold the vellum in place.
"pssst..." from Happy Watercolor was embossed in gold, and was cut out with one of the Word Bubbles framelits, then popped up on Dimensionals. "i {heart} you" is a design in the Label Thinlets Card Die, and is cut in Gold Foil Sheets with the Big Shot, then added to another Word Bubble. A red heart was punched from Red Glimmer Paper and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot.
Finally some random gold sequins were pulled from the the Gold Sequin Trim and adhered with the Two-Way Glue Pen.
i {heart} you! Thanks for visiting!

A Special Anniversary
Yesterday was the 5th wedding anniversary of my son, Matt, and his wonderful bride, Sarah. I mentioned in an earlier post that Matt is currently stationed in Texas with the Air National Guard, becoming an intelligence analyst. He has been gone four months already, and won't be home until Christmas. So for a combined birthday/anniversary gift, I sent my daughter-in-law to Texas for the weekend (and I volunteered to take care of my two grandsons, ages nearly three and nearly one!--and that's another story!).
So of course I made a special card for them. I had nothing in mind as I began to create, but was extremely pleased with the end results. It just kinda happened!
I started by stamping the blooms and stems from Field Flowers on Whisper White, using Old Olive ink for the stems and Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie for the flowers.
Next I inked up En Francais with Versamark and stamped it over the flowers, embossing it with Clear Embossing Powder and my trust Heat Tool. I finished by sponging the Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink, along with Crumb Cake all over the front, and then spritzed it with Smooch Spritz.
Love was die cut from the beautiful Gold Foil paper, using the Expressions Thinlets die and the Big Shot.
This front panel was layered onto a piece of the Gold Foil, then on Old Olive and finally onto the card base of Early Espresso.
Since this was an unusual-size card, I created my own, custom envelope using the Envelope Punch tool, which is super for this task.
All of these items can be ordered here: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/priscillastamps/
