Fun-fold Birthday

On our last Ink Master (my team name) Zoom call (we do them twice a month), one of my teammates, Gail, showed us a card using a fun-fold for patterned paper.  I quickly scribbled some measurements, and then decided to try one for myself.

The outside of the card looks pretty much like a "normal" 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" card, but wait until it's opened:

The key is using a 5-1/4" x 12" piece of designer (patterned) paper.  I used the World of Good paper, and once cut, scored it at 4" and 8".  Then I cut one end from the score line to the bottom of the paper on a diagonal.  Once folded, this becomes a pocket.

This can hold a notecard (as I did here) or you can add a gift card to the pocket.

And look:

I heat embossed all the greetings, stamping the original image in Tuxedo Black and then stamping over it (using the Stamparatus for perfect placement) using Versamark ink.  This allowed me to add Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it for a gorgeous raised and shiny sentiment.

Once your patterned paper is scored and folded, it's adhered to a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" card base (I used Basic Black).  Then you can decorate the front to your hearts content - which is just what I did, using the Beautiful World stamps and World Map dies with lots of Brass Foil Sheets.

Adding a pretty border to the envelope ties the whole project together.

How often do you try a new way to make your cards?  Try a fun-fold, and see what happens!

World's Best Father

It's almost Father's Day, and I have created a special card for my dad:

I love the gorgeous papers in the World of Good DSP selection, as many of them are tinged with brass accents.  And I love Misty Moonlight, one of the new In Colors.  Combining them made for a beautiful card.

This is a fairly simple card; most of the work is done with the World Map dies.

The card base is Misty Moonlight, with a layer of the new Brass Foil sheets.  And then there's that DSP - oo-la-la!  A subtle pattern of a map on Misty Moonlight, with concentric circles of brass foil.   So pretty!

My globe was cut with Brass Foil, and layered over a Misty Moonlight circle, then added to the "stand".  The greeting is from Itty Bitty Greetings, and I added the feather pen and inkwell, cut with the dies.

And of course there's coordinating envelope - I stamped the hemisphere in Misty Moonlight ink on the front.

Inside:

Just the perfect finishing touch - a matching stamped "earth" and the lovely sentiment.

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there!

World of Good

Do you like beautiful designer paper and fabulous images?  How about texture and brass?  If this describes you, then don't miss the World of Good suite from the new Annual Catalog, on pages 24-26.  Perfect for creating masculine cards, this group of products also fits the bill for preserving your travel memories.  Or, if you are like me and have places to go, how about creating a wish list of exciting destinations?

First, let's take a peek at this gorgeous suite, and then I'll show you a card:

So how about seeing a few of the products on a card:

When my Ink Master team had a Zoom meeting last month, one of our demos, Melanie, shared a Mystery Card.  She told us what products to have on hand, and then walked us through creating the card over Zoom.  And this was my project.

We created a see-through front of the card, allowing the message to show through a Window Sheet.  Isn't that fun?  And check out the products on this card:

That globe!  Easy to make with the coordinating World Map dies.  I cut the stand and the world overlay out of Brass Foil, and layered the world over a circle (one of the included dies) of Early Espresso.

Isn't that beautiful?

And then look at the paper:

It looks like a topographical image.  I just love it!  (Although you HAVE to see the other papers; this one doesn't compete with the Window Sheet and image below, but some of the others have fabulous brass foil accents and vintage imagery!).

Look at the script of the greeting - isn't that beautiful?  The Beautiful World stamps have two globes (two hemispheres) along with a few vintage images (feather, ink well and compass) and 5 wonderful phrases.  It's just a gorgeous set!

It really is a beautiful world!
