First a story:
I got in my car and drove to La Guardia airport in New York one evening to welcome my brother home for Christmas. I was a senior in college in Connecticut and my brother was a sophomore in college in California, and he was bringing home one of his good friends for the holidays. Back in the day you could wait for arriving passengers as they got off the plane, and that's where I was, with my mom, dad and sister, when the guys walked through the tunnel door. I saw my brother first, but it was the tall, lanky guy next to him that caught my attention. He was over 6 feet tall, with long, curly black hair (Afro style), a black beard/mustache and small aviator-style glasses. He was wearing a sheepskin jacket and cowboy boots. Wowsers! And then he said, "Hello".
I was hooked! Right then, lightening struck! We spent the next two weeks nearly inseparable, and then he had to go back to school. I was crushed...cried all day New Years Day after dropping the guys at the airport. But we made a long-distance relationship work, and 6 months later, upon graduating from college, I moved to California, eventually becoming his wife. And we'll be celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary in March!
So...I really thought this card would be appropriate:
I always love a red and black card, and this one is no different. I started by stamping the heart, from Always in my Heart, with Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White cardstock, then over-stamping with Versamark (thank you, Stamparatus!) and heat embossing it with Clear Embossing Powder.
Darn! I wish you could see how shiny this heart is! 😕 But never mind, let's look at the rest.
I cut out the heart using the large die from the Floral Heart dies (which also gave me the lovely white "surround" for the heart).
The base is Basic Black and there is a layer of the Red Foil Sheets from the holiday catalog (which are still available!). I also cut some of the flowers with the red foil, and the little hearts (one of the included dies).
The background is embossed with the Scripty embossing folder, then the white floral frame was popped up with Dimensionals, while the embossed heart was adhered flat to the card.
He had me at "hello". And you can have this gorgeous stamp set and coordinating dies now! It's available in the January - June 2021 Mini Catalog. Purchase the stamps and die in the bundle and save 10% AND get a FREE Sale-a-Bration item!
Then create your own love story...
