A Card and a Video

Last week I showed you this card.  I had posted it to the Stampin' UP! demonstrator only website and had lots of requests on how to make it.  So today I'm showing you a new card with the same technique AND I'm including a how-to video.  Hope you like it!

One of the new stamp sets I bought is called Jar of Love.  It has SO many possibilities, with three sizes of jars, LOTS of accessories, AND matching framelits!  I loved the little fish, and decided to use him for my birthday card.

I started with a Pool Party card base, topped with a thin layer of Whisper White and then a layer of In Color Designer Series Paper in Peekaboo Peach.  And because my focal image would be smaller, I added a bow of Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon along the top.

I stamped my jar in Smoky Slate, and added "water" with Pool Party (this is a stamp, and fits perfectly in all three of the jars).  I cut the jar, handle, bow, flower and fish with the framelits (SO easy!), popping up the handle on really skinny pieces of Dimensionals.

The tag was stamped, using Barnyard Babies, and cut with the new Bunch of Banners Framelits.

And then the inside:

Yes, I made another pop-up fish card!  Isn't it cute?

I "broke" the jar by hand-cutting it, and created the spilled water with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits (sponged with Pool Party).

And "Best Fishes" (from Jar of Love) was stamped inside Mr. Fish's mouth.

Wanna make one of your own?  Here's how:

Enjoy!

Thank you, Corrie; although this card is going to my daughter, I made one for my grandsons, and they loved it! I'm sure yours will too!

Just a quick question, love the card but I'm confused on how you did the Best Fishes in the mouth part. To me it looks like you have another piece of cardstock behind the inside piece, but it also looks like you have orange on it too. How did you piece it together so the slit doesn't show? Sorry that I'm confused but maybe I missed something in the video. Thanks

Hi Barb, thanks for your question. The orange on the sides of the inside of the card are just thin strips, attached to each side of the insert. The inside card with the fish on it is slightly smaller than the card base, and is adhered inside the card base, with the small strips of orange on either side.
The strip of cardstock inside the fish's mouth is attached from the back side of the insert (before adhering inside your card),and is just glued to the outside corner of the mouth, each side.
Hope that makes sense! If you need more info, or would like me to send you a card so you can actually see it, send me an e-mail at p_ivler@yahoo.com.

Love your card! I don't have those punches so is the heart about 2" and also the circles? I use a Silhouette due to my arthritis in my hards. But I love stamping up products and always use their ink and paper and yes this jar of love is a favorite of mine! Thank you! Claudia

Hi Claudia, the heart punch I used is the Sweetheart Punch, which is about 1.5" across. The circles were from the Layering Circles Framelits dies, and are approximately 2". Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for sharing the video. I found your card through Pinterest. I think it will be perfect to make for one of my Sunday School students who is under the weather. His name is Fisher, and he needs some get well fishes! Thank you for sharing your talents!
