Two--Tone Thank You

One of the cards we made in our in-person class last month used the lovely Hello Irresistible Designer Series Paper, found on the Online Exclusives page.  It makes such a pretty "statement" on this card that the card doesn't need much more to finish it off:

The leaf paper is from the paper pack.  It's mounted to a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock, and then onto a Thick Basic White base.

What makes the paper stand out is the angled pieces of white cardstock framing the DSP.  Cut with Deckled Rectangle dies and popped up over the leafy print on Dimensionals, it highlights the lovely pattern.

The two-toned greeting (from Biggest Wish) was first stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink and then Lost Lagoon was applied with a Sponge Dauber in places.  This pulls out the two colors of the DSP.

Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest impact!

Hello Irresistible is currently available in the Online Exclusives, but only while supplies last.  Don't miss out on this beautiful paper!

Altered Memo Pad

I still enjoy taking everyday finds (like something from the Dollar Tree) and altering it with Stampin' UP! products.  Like this:

What started out as a mini legal pad was turned into a pretty notebook.  It was easy and fun.

I started with the measurements of the pad, which was 8" x 5".  So I cut my Boho Blue cardstock to 8-1/4" x 10-3/4".  Then I scored in the center at 5-1/4" and 5-1/2" (the pad was just less than 1/4" thick).

Before adhering the pad to the inside, I glued down a 3-1/2" long piece of Boho Blue Textured Ribbon, looping it so a pen could be stored inside the loop.

Then I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to add the notebook inside.

The outside cover was decorated with Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy cardstock and a flower from Darling Details.  And I stamped the greeting from Phrases for All in Navy Ink.

Creating fun gifts like this is relaxing for me, and they always make a great gift to thank my customers.  Think about it when you need a little present for a teacher, friend or neighbor!

Tomorrow is the day!  Time for the September -  December 2023 Mini Catalog to go live!  Stampin' UP! is ready to take your orders, so grab your Wish List and start ordering.

So Very Merry Angel

Welcome to another Merry Monday, where I showcase holiday cards to get you in the spirit of creating your own greeting cards for the holiday season.

Today I have another card using So Very Merry.  Last week I showed you a card with the angel, and yes, I have another angel card for you:

This little angel is so pretty!  As I was coloring the background behind the angel using blue Stampin' Blends I suddenly got the idea to bring in a starry paper from the Stargazing pack.

First the angel:  stamped in Versamark and heat-embossed in silver, I colored here with Bubble Bath Stampin' Blends.  The outer ring is Tahitian Tide, and the inner background is Boho Blue.  She is punched with the 2-3/8" circle punch.

I then chose a piece of the Designer Paper and cut it with the Patchwork Pieces dies.  I mounted the pieces over a piece of Silver Foil for a stunning effect!

L.O.V.E.!  The greeting was also heat embossed in silver and cut with a Stylish Shapes die.

So what do you think of this card?  Me?  I think it's "heavenly"!  ðŸ˜„

A Fractured Card with Paper Piecing

I always like to "teach" something at my monthly Sunday Crafternoon card club meetings.  Whether it's a fun fold, or a new technique, I want the attendees to leave knowing that they learned something new.

So at my August meeting, I decided to go with the "Fractured Card" technique.  Have you seen this?  You probably have, although you may not recognize the name, but these cards are all over the internet right now.

I'm not exactly sure where the name "fractured" came from, but I suspect it's because the card is divided into sections.  It could be made by cutting your background paper into pieces, but as they are all different sizes, this would be difficult.

Instead, it's a pretty easy process.  Starting with a square cut-out in the middle of the patterned paper (Stylish Shapes dies), I then cut a slightly smaller square in the center of the first square on a piece of Basic White cardstock of the same size.  It's easiest to layer the patterned paper (with the hole already cut out) on top of the white piece; place the smaller die in the center of the first hole and then cut it out.

Adhere the two pieces together, with the smaller hole under the larger one, leaving a little border.

Add the strips, which are cut 3/16" wide, letting them run off the edge of the paper.

Now, did you notice the cute cupcake in the center?  How about that cupcake paper?  It was done with paper piecing.  We used a piece of the patterned paper, stamping the cupcake on it and fussy-cutting the cupcake paper.  This was then glued over a stamped-and-fussy-cut image of the cupcake, covering the bottom and adding a delightful accent to our cupcake.

We finished our card with "Celebrate" in coordinating colors (here we used Lost Lagoon and Pool Party), cut with dies and popped up on Dimensionals.

So there you have it!  A Fractured Card with Paper Piecing!

Just a few more days til the September - December 2023 Mini Catalog is available!  What is on your Wish List?  Get ready to order on September 6th!
