Wednesday's "What's On the Desk?"

I'm finally getting back to my What's On the Desk Wednesday after weeks of prepping for my Open House.  And today I have some interesting things on my desk:

I was making a birthday card for my father (come back next week to see that), and had these pieces left over.

See that little speck in the middle?

It's a teeny goldfish.

So it looks like my card has to be a sea-inspired creation..

I started looking at what I had:

I thought that I would use Sea of Textures, so I started by embossing the two Soft Sea Foam circles; the one on the left uses the Ruffled embossing folder, and the smaller circle was embossed with Seaside.

Then I started thinking about a layout.

This circle needed to be stamped - Sea of Textures was perfect.  The "grass" was stamped in Tranquil Tide (stamping off for the ones on the side) and the coral was stamped with Blushing Bride ink.

I also stamped and cut out this coral, using Tranquil Tide ink on Vellum cardstock.

Now let's start putting it all together:

Don't forget the goldfish and the sea grass that I had on my desk...

It needs a sentiment.  I like the one from Lilypad Lake, but only want the "Thinking of You" part of the sentiment.  Using the Stamparatus, I first stamped the image on an acrylic sheet, with my card front underneath for placement.  I adjust the card and prepare the stamp:

Since I only want part of it I mask off the words I don't want with Washi Tape.

I ink up my stamp...

Don't forget to remove the Washing Tape before stamping!

Perfect!  Gotta love that Stamparatus!

Now let's put it all together:

It just needed a few more goldfish and some retired Glitter and Clear Epoxy dots (to look like bubbles coming off the words).  There's a layer of Soft Sea Foam, and the card base is Tranquil Tide.

So what do you think?  Did I inspire you to try using scraps on your desk?

What? Coordinating Kits?

Last month I revealed that the June Paper Pumpkin was going to coordinate (for the first time EVER) with a suite from the new Annual Catalog.

And today I get to tell you which suite it is - drumroll please:

Yes!  The June Paper Pumpkin will coordinate with the Broadway Bound Suite.

And this happens to be one of my favorites!  It was one of the first stamp sets I put on my "must purchase" list, and my order has already been placed.  And now I find that I'll have added use for both the Broadway Bound products AND my June Paper Pumpkin.  I can't wait!

If you want to get in on the fun, be sure to subscribe by June 10th.  And check out the Broadway Bound Suite in the Annual Catalog, here.

Delightful Anniversary

While the anniversary itself is delightful - it's my son and daughter-in-law's 12th wedding anniversary, the paper I used, the gorgeous new Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, is truly delightful, and is available now:

This just made me happy!  Why?  Let me count the ways:

1.  The colors - Gorgeous Grape is a luscious purple color, and a new addition to the Brights Color Family.  Highland Heather is a lighter version, and compliments the grape color so well.  And Lemon Lime Twist?  How can you go wrong?

2.  That impressive laser-cut paper - This is only one of the overlay panels that comes in the package. There are two sheet designs--one is a delicate lace-like look (you get 4 sheets of this, each piece being 12" x 12"), and the other, which I used here, is a 12" x 12" square with two border pieces and 6 panels, all different, to be cut apart and added to your cards.  You get 4 of these sheets too, for a total of 8 lovely pages to make lots and lots of cards!  And the best?  One side is Whisper White and flip it for Very Vanilla.  Such versatility!

3.  That sponging - I used a sponge dauber to lightly sponge some Lemon Lime Twist on some of the flowers.

4.  That sentiment - from Beautiful Bouquet.  I just love that pretty font!

5.  The large flower - from Oh So Eclectic, stamped in Gorgeous Grape, with Highland Heather shading.  And so easy to cut out, with the coordinating Eclectic Layers Thinlits Dies.

6.  Again, the flower - LOVE the cluster of pearls in the center.  They are the new Share What You Love Artisan Pearls and come in 5 colors.  Perfect!

Wishing Evan and Christy a lovely day, just like the card we sent them.
