More Birthday Cards

Round 3 of my Birthday Party, where everyone made lots of birthday cards...

I really like today's cards.  I first saw the Night of Navy card on Stampin' Connection (a demonstrator-only website, full of samples and ideas) and I knew I had to make one.  Take a look:

The Night of Navy (#100867) and Cucumber Crush (#138335), along with the Daffodil Delight ((#119683) star are fabulous colors for a child. And my grandson is turning 3 in two weeks, so this is just for him.

But I can't have a birthday party and only invite the boys...so here is our girly version:

And this one can be used for all our girlfriends who refuse to age (grin).  Blackberry Bliss (#133675), Pool Party (#122924) and Blushing Bride (#131198) make beautiful music together.

We used Circles Collection Framelits (#130911) and Stars Framelits (#133723).  After adhering the larger circle to our Whisper White (#124302) layer, we stamped "Look who's turning" from Number of Years (#140653).  Then we added our smaller circle and popped the star up on Dimensionals (#104430).

Each attendee got to choose her own numbers and cut them using the Large Numbers Framelits Dies (#140622) - and if they wanted to use the "again" banner, stamped it and cut it out.

What a great way to personalize a birthday card for the recipient (or to "lie" about the recipient's age! - giggle).

Birthday Party Gift Card Holders

Round two of my Birthday Party (see Sunday's post) found my guests making gift card holders.  Again we used the same layout but made two cards--one for the conservative, all business person and one for the wild party-child!  See if you can guess which was which.

This fun layout is a card within a card.  That top, polka-dotted card is held closed by the "surprise" button at the bottom; pull it up and this is what the recipient will find:

The top, striped part is a pocket into which you can slip a gift card.

This card was made using It's my Party Designer Series Paper  (#140552) and Sahara Sand cardstock (#121043).  The striped gift card holder pocket uses the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack (#138435), also in Sahara Sand.

Our second card uses the same paper stack, but Basic Black (#121045), Crushed Curry (#131199) and Melon Mambo (#115320) tell the story:

Woohoo!  It's party time!  Stamps used are BYOP (Buy Your Own Present) (#137159), Amazing Birthday (#134225) and Big News (#134015).

Lots of fun, and a special treat for the birthday girl or boy!

Let's Celebrate Birthdays!

I recently hosted a Birthday Party - but at this party the guests had a job to do.  They each made eight birthday cards!  Yes, I created a special Card Party and everyone made eight cards.  So over the next several days, I'll share the samples.

First up:  Celebrate!

This card was a hit.  And we made it in two colors.  This was done in Mint Macaron (#138337) and Black (#121045), and used Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Catalog, It's My Party (#140552).

Fabulous Four (#134174)was stamped after coloring the stamp using Basic Black ($100082) and Mint Macaron (#138333) Stampin' Write Markers.  The corner punch was done with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch (#139683), and we punched little balloons using the Party Punch Pack (#140608) and Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (#140557).  Balloon Strings were drawn using a Project Life Journaling Pen(#135304), and the top layer was popped up on Dimensionals (#104430).

We also did this card in pink:

It has a Blushing Bride (#131198) base, with Watermelon Wonder (#138334) layers.  Because I didn't have DSP to punch for the balloons, we made our own.  Stamping Balloon Builder (#140645) balloons with Watermelon Wonder (#138323) ink gave us a pretty, mottled look and we just punched and adhered these little gems.

 The reverse side of the striped Designer Paper has beautiful roses, and a few of the attendees chose to use that side for their card...

Pretty, huh?

Using the same layout but different DSP or colors can really change your cards.  Try it!

Dinosaurs Meet Botanical Blooms

Now that Sale-A-Bration is over, I thought I would pull out one of my favorite sets from the annual catalog...AND I pulled out one of my favorite designer series papers from the Occasions Catalog.  Together they make magic!  Thought I'd enter this to the Watercooler Wednesday challenge, which this week is "anything goes:



And here's my card:

The tropical garden page from Botanical Gardens DSP (140583) seemed to make a wonderful backdrop for my dinosaur card.  No Bones About It (138756) is a great set for making cards for my grandsons, who are nuts about dinosaurs.

The dino is stamped in Old Olive ink (126953) and then I stamped the skeleton on top of him, using Mossy Meadow (133645).  I also stamped a cluster of leaves from the same set using the same inks, and some footprints with Tip Top Taupe (138325). My stamped white cardstock (100730) was glued to a Mossy Meadow (133676) base.

I took some DSP and adhered it to Cajun Craze cardstock (119684) and used my Ovals Framelits  (129381) to cut the hole in the center. This was then popped up on top of the base using Dimensionals (104430), creating a diorama look.

Then I had some fun cutting leaves and flowers using the Botanical Builder Framelits (140625) and added them to the card front.  The sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink.

For my inside, I completed the sentiment:

and of course, added one more dinosaur.


I'm pretty sure Ethan and Jacob will love this card...what do you think?
