Artfully Aware

Introducing a new stamp set, available with the launch of the new Annual Catalog on June 4th:  Artfully Aware.

This is a beautiful set of stamps that express support for those who struggle, while celebrating teamwork.  I know you'll love this set as much as I do.

Unfortunately I've just been made aware of a need for this card.

Various cancer diagnoses are represented with ribbons of different colors.  We are all familiar with the pink ribbon for breast cancer.  But there are a few very unusual cancers for which no color is designated--I found that lavender is the color for "all" cancer.  Hence my lavender card.

Purple Posy is a new In Color, making its appearance in the new catalog.  It's a perfect addition to our current purple line, including Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape, as it is a lighter, softer purple.

My card base is Purple Posy, and the top is a gingham sheet from the new In Color DSP collection.

Sandwiched between these two layers is a layer of Highland Heather.

I adhered my DSP to a piece of Whisper White, and cut the ribbon using the Support Ribbon dies (carrying over from our current offerings).  Then, using the Stamparatus, I stamped the ribbon on the Highland Heather, using Gorgeous Grape ink.

But look at this:

I stamped one of the images from Artfully Aware on Vellum with Tuxedo Black ink, and quickly sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder over it, heat embossing it.  Then I colored the back side using Stampin' Blends in very light colors:  Light Soft Suede, Light Highland Heather, Light Daffodil Delight, Light Mint Macaron, and Light Petal Pink.  Isn't this just beautiful?

The gingham layer is raised on Dimensionals so that the vellum circle could float above the ribbon.

The sentiment is from Ribbon of Courage, retiring with the current catalog, but just a perfect saying for my card.

My best wishes to a very special friend.

Artfully Aware, coming June 4th.  Be sure to grab one for your collection.

Explore Graceful Glass

Have you seen the Graceful Glass suite of products?  This is such a beautiful collection, and easily makes you feel like an artist.

I've done a few cards with the Designer Series Paper, and have loved coloring it with the Stampin' Blends.  You can see some of my samples here.

But we also made a gorgeous card at a team meeting, using Stampin' Write markers to color our vellum.  Look:

While there are many elements to this card, the standout feature is the colored strip down the middle. This is a strip of the Graceful Glass DSP that was colored, then adhered to the Whisper White base.  To that we added panels of Whisper White (embossed with the Subtle embossing folder) and accented with Copper Foil strips.  Mounted on Basic Black, these panels are popped up with Dimensionals over the stained glass piece.

We stamped and embossed (Copper embossing powder) hearts from Ribbon of Courage, and cut them out with eh coordinating framelits.  They are mounted over a Copper Foil circle and some Black Thread.

Try some Painted Glass; let the hidden artist within shine!

Tranquil Tide Fun Fold

This was a March Card Club card that we created tonight:

Isn't it pretty?

This unusual-fold card has a card base cut on the diagonal.  Take a regular piece of 8-1/2" x 11" Tranquil Tide cardstock; score lengthwise in half at 4-1/4"; turn the paper one-quarter turn and score in half at 5-1/2".  Place your paper on your paper cutter and cut diagonally, corner to corner, creating two triangular pieces of cardstock for two cards.

Then the fun begins:

Decorate the front with two pieces of Designer Series Paper (we used the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Pack; cut DSP 4" x 5-1/4" and again cut on the diagonal, giving you two triangles to use for your card).  Next we stamped the sentiment from Ribbon of Courage on Whisper White paper with Tranquil Tide ink and punched it with a 1-3/8" circle punch.  This was layered on a label stamped with Label Me Pretty and punched with the Pretty Label punch.

Pop your label on Dimensionals on a circle cut with the Layering Circles dies and embossed with the Garden Trellis embossing folder.  And finally, adhere it all to a Silver Glimmer Scalloped Circle.

Add your decorated sentiment to the front of the card, gluing only the top left half of the circle to the top of the card (this allows your card to open in the middle).

Here's the inside (which we finished with a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped with the lovely heart from the same stamp set).

A fun-fold card that is sure to be a hit to whomever is the recipient!
