Welcome Home

I just got back from a quick trip to Portland, OR.  My son and daughter-in-law, and my darling grandson, Declan, moved there last month, and I HAD to see their new home.

And of course, I had to make a card:

Map it Out provided the great US map.  And I thought it was perfect to mark Portland with a star!

Other products used are new, from the upcoming Holiday Catalog.  First is that adorable house:

This actually looks quite a bit like my son's new home, a 125-year old farmhouse-style structure that needs LOTS of remodeling.  Think "fixer upper".  But it's my son's dream (and fortunately he has the skills) to turn it into a palace for his wife.  And he'll be true to the time period--he's even refinishing the original windows!

But I digress...back to the card.  😁😁😁

The house, along with two other styles, is featured in the Hearts Come Home set.  Obviously I didn't do a great job of coloring it, but since I was making the card at 11:00 p.m. the night before I was leaving, I went with it...I used Old Olive and Peekaboo Peach markers, along with Basic Black for the roof; colored, huffed and stamped.  Then cut it out with the Stitched Shapes framelits, layered on two more of the Layering Circles dies.

The background paper is new too - the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper.  I love that this paper has patterns that can be used all year round!

It was hard to leave them on Sunday night, but I know they're in a good place, and a wonderful home.  What more can a mom ask?

OnLine Extravaganza Sample

blogheader_OnlineX_cust_11.23.15_ENG

Have you gone shopping yet?  The prices on this week's OnLine Extravaganza are fabulous!

To entice you, here's a little sample I made using one of the stamp sets, Map It Out (which coordinates with the Greetings From set); both are on sale now for 30% off!

Many of you have heard that my grandsons have moved 3000 miles away.  I'm trying to stay in touch with them, and this little stamp was the perfect way to send my love.

My base of Whisper White Thick cardstock was cut to 4-1/4" x 11, and was scored on all sides (from the inside of the card so it left an embossed edge).  I punched a very small hole on the fold (left side) and put a very small notch on the right side, and then wound my Bermuda Bay Thick Bakers Twine around the card.  It was tied in a knot on the very edge, and I used a Paper Piercing tool to "shred" the ends.

My map was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I used Blender Pens with Lost Lagoon to shade my two states (California and Maryland).  Then I traced their cross-country route using a Stampin' Write marker (Elegant Eggplant).

The Alphabet Rotary Stamp (page 132 in the Annual Catalog--take a peek!) allowed me to stamp my message--so fun to be able to create your own sentiments!

So head on over to the Extravaganza and see what you can pick up to start your creative juices stirring!  Click here to see the list.
