A Magical Birthday for Nate

My grandson, Nathan, is turning 5 this week, and we spent the weekend in San Diego celebrating with my daughter and her family. Nate is a total Star Wars fan, and the party was so themed, but I don't have any Star Wars stamps. However, I have the next best thing: Magical Day!

Look:

This is such a sparkly card! The old wizard is stamped, colored with Stampin' Blends and cut with the matching Magical Mates framelits, while the Lil Wizard is fussy cut from the wonderful Myths & Magic Designer Series Paper.

The figures are placed on a globe of Dazzling Diamonds-like paper from the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper Pack.

The sentiment was stamped twice - once in Bermuda Bay and again in Rich Razzleberry - and cut with the banner framelit.

And inside:

But I had a vision of a matching gift bag, and the gift we bought was too big for my Gift Bag Punch Board. So off to Target to get a large shopping bag, and I turned it into a castle:

I loved how this came out, and it was Nate's first choice to open at his party.

You'll notice the brick background--my Smoky Slate paper was run through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall embossing folder in three pieces, and pieced together. A few of the figures (fighting knight, and the two larger princesses) were fussy cut from the designer papers, while all the other figures were stamped and colored.

I love to make gifts special, and this was truly a "Work of Heart"!

It's Retirement Time!

When the new Stampin' Up! catalog makes it's appearance (to demonstrators) we get so excited to see what is coming. But our thoughts also turn to what we are losing, and we prepare to say goodbye to our current favorites. Such is the case with this set, Magical Day.

I have really enjoyed playing with this set and the lovely designer paper that goes with it. AND the fabulous Magical Mates framelits dies. Oh, AND the beautiful Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper. So to showcase this collection, I created this card.

The base is Smoky Slate, with the bottom third embossed with the Simple Stripes embossing folder (happily carrying over to the next catalog). The Myths & Magic DSP is layered on a rectangle of Basic Gray and I used a piece of now-retired Glimmer Ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration offerings.

Don't you just LOVE this wizard? He's stamped in Tuxedo Black, colored with Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay and Ivory Stampin' Blends, and cut out with the framelit. His magic ball is the Glimmer Paper, punched with a 1/2" circle punch.

The sentiment was stamped with Tuxedo Black and I first cut the "Magical" with the curved-shape framelit; then I repeated it twice with the top portion. These two pieces are popped up on Dimensionals, as is Mr. Wizard.

Remember that the 2016-2018 In Colors are retiring too, and once they are gone, they are GONE. So if you like them, order quickly. Stamps will continue to be available through May, but paper, inks and accessories are only "while supplies last".

Last THREE Days!

It's the last THREE days of Sale-a-Bration, and you won't want to miss out after you see this card:

Combining the Springtime Foils Designer Series Papers AND the Celebrate You Thinlits dies - both FREE offerings during Sale-a-Bration - I was able to create this awesome card.

The Springtime Foils DSP has 4 patterns (3- 12" x 12" pieces each) of wonderful foiled designs. This is the dotted piece with Copper foil...gorgeous! And even more so when sponged with a rainbow, right?

My card is 5" x 5" of Pink Pirouette cardstock, and note the embossed score lines along the edges, highlighting the pretty panel of colors.

I sponged the paper using Stampin' Sponges and Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point, Island Indigo and Wisteria Wonder. The unicorn, from Magical Day, was stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink and cut with the coordinating Magical Mates Framelits (sold as a bundle, you'll save 10%). I colored her with Stampin' Blends in Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Bermuda Bay.

Using the Celebrate You Thinlits and Copper Foil sheets made the perfect sentiment.

And inside:

I couldn't let any of that rainbow-colored foil go to waste, so the narrow strips cut to make the square for the front were used as decorative pieces inside.
