Last One for 2016!

So it's time to say goodbye to Christmas 2016...well at least to my Christmas Cards.  I've been sharing the last of them this week, and today we've reached the end.  But I've saved one of my favorites til last...lookie:

Oh my, this card is SO full of texture!

The Cucumber Crush base is embossed with the Holly embossing folder, one of my favorite folders (and I was a "late bloomer"--saw this in the catalog but it didn't strike me as something I had to have until I got it.  Wowzers!  Gorgeous!)

I then took a piece of Whisper White and, using one of the thin, detailed strips from Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies, I made the cut-out lines.  This took a bit of skill--I used a post-it note on either side, lining it up along a piece of Grid paper to ensure it would be straight, and then cut it 4 times.

Then I stamped the Merry Christmas, from Greetings from Santa, with Real Red ink, and tied a piece of (oops!  Retired!) red ribbon around the bottom, tying a small bow of Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine around it.  This piece was then mounted over a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper, using Dimensionals.

I stamped the two little trees, also from Greetings from Santa, using Cucumber Crush ink, and added the little star with Daffodil Delight.  These trees were fussy-cut and added with Dimensionals.

So sparkly...and SO copied!  This card comes directly from the pages of the Holiday catalog, (page 11).  Use the pages of our wonderful catalogs to create your own beauties!

Lovely as Christmas

Another Christmas card as we count down the days to the holiday.  This week I'm sharing the last of my cards that I've been making this month.

Today is another Card Club card, and it was the result of work I did a few weeks earlier when playing with an idea.  I love Lovely as a Tree, one of the best selling stamps in Stampin' UP! history.  If you don't have it, you should consider purchasing it--it's a keeper; a set that you will go to over and over again.

Last week I shared this card with you. It's a beautiful card, but it was just too complicated for many attendees to make at one sitting, so I simplified my sample and came up with this:

And I love it!  A serene winter scene...

The card base is Night of Navy, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" and again 3/4" to one side of the score line.  This creates a different, "book" fold card.  The card is folded in half (on the 5-1/2" score line), then the front is folded back along the second score line; place Tear and Tape adhesive along the score and glue shut.  It leaves a border edge that is 3/4" wide (just enough for a pretty bow!  This was made using the 3/8" Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack).

The main panel is Whisper White.  I cut a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock the same size and made a template by cutting a rectangle in the center.  This was placed over our panel, and we sponged with Smoky Slate to create the smoky rectangle in the middle.

The trees are inked with Night of Navy and (after blocking the edge of our Smoky Slate rectangle with some Post-It Tape) we stamped them over the rectangle.

Our large pine tree was also stamped with Night of Navy and we used a "contraband" die (Dies by Dave) to cut it out.  It's adhered using Dimensionals, and we punched a tiny Silver Glimmer paper star, using the Confetti Stars Border Punch, to top it off.

Merry Christmas!

One Week To Go!

So we are now just one week from Christmas, and I will share with you the rest of my Christmas cards.

Today's card is one we made in our Card Club for December.  Although a very simple card, it got lots of oohs and aahs, and everyone was thrilled with their results.  Take a look:

The card base is Whisper White Thick cardstock, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and folded in half.  We added a thin layer of Real Red (5-3/8" x 4-1/8").  Our top layer of Whisper White (5-1/4" x 4") took a trip through the Big Shot with the beautiful Holly embossing folder.  If you haven't tried this one, you NEED to--the texture it adds to your cards is absolutely gorgeous!

This beautiful little tag is one of my favorite items from the Holiday catalog - Merry Tags Framelits Dies.  And right now these are on sale for 50% off!  Don't miss it; they'll retire in January and won't be available again, so get yours now.

We cut the tag with more of the Thick Whisper White cardstock.  Then we all learned how to use the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to properly position the matching sentiment from Merriest Wishes--sheer perfection!

Our tag was backed with a circle of Red Glimmer Paper; Real Red Stitched Satin Ribbon was threaded through the tag and tied with a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine (although for class, we used the Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine, with a sparkle of red metallic thread).

We finished with a simple tag using Greetings from Santa, stamped in Real Red ink.

Easy, beautiful and so elegant!
