Designer Paper - Not Just for Cards

How do you use your Designer Papers?

Pretty patterned papers are one of the things I love about creating.  I love the colors, the patterns and the textures.  I tend to hoard collect them, and sometimes I have quite a stash!  Does that sound like you?

Did you know there are things you can do with pretty paper OTHER than making a card?  Of course there is scrapbooking, but today I have a 3-D item for you - a gift bag:

How pretty is that?  And not only is it a little bag for a treat, but there is also a place for a coordinating card!  Cool, right?

I bought a little box of Sees candy for a hostess gift.  It was a pretty box (see my last photo), but I knew I could make it even more special.  So I pulled out a few new products from the OnLine Exclusives and the Sale-a-Bration brochure.

First the paper:  this is the beautiful Marbled Elegance 12" x 12" designer paper.   The gorgeous marbled patterns have bits of gold foil mixed in for an elegant look.  It is perfect for Valentines Day cards and gift packaging, but as you can see here, it also makes a lovely little gift bag for a thank you gift.

I measured my Sees candy box and cut my paper to 10" x 7-1/2", scoring it at 3-1/4", 4-3/4", 8" and 9-1/2", and rotating it to score it at 1" along one long side, and rotating it again to score it at 3/4" on the other long side.

The 3/4" panel along the top of the bag is folded forward to create a little border around the top.  Then I punched a few holes, threaded the gold ribbon through and made handles.

I also added a 1/2" strip of Basic White cardstock with tiny Dimensionals to pop it up.  This is what will hold my card.

This little card is 2-3/4" x 2-3/4".  I used the Sale-a-Bration bundle, Heart Shaped (a stamp set AND coordinating dies), which can be yours with a $120 purchase.  I stamped a red heart and greeting, and then cut the Gold Foil with the heart die, layering it over the stamped image.  The little flower and leaves are also extra dies in the set.

The card slips over the white strip on the front of the bag.

So pretty, and it will be a fun gift to give our dinner hosts tomorrow evening.

Be sure to use your Designer Series Papers.  It's not just for cards or scrapbooking!  Have fun!

More Delightful Wishes

I'm on a roll!  Although I took a break from the Delightful Wishes stamp set over the weekend to create some needed birthday cards (you'll see them soon), I was drawn back to this set for another round.  This time I did not stamp the flowers; instead I cut them with the coordinating Delightful Wishes dies.

 Such a different look!

The flowers were cut with Petal Pink for the base and Calypso Coral for the detailed centers.  NOT my usual colors, but once I decided on the background paper (from the Floral Delight paper pack) I sought out colors that coordinate well with Pecan Pie.  These two look great, and I chose Lost Lagoon and Pool Party for the leaves.

Do you spot another new item?  How about that lattice background?  Cut with the Linked Together dies from the January- April 2025 Mini Catalog, I used Pretty Peacock to contrast with the leaf and flower colors.

Since my floral design takes up much of the page, I thought a small greeting would suffice.  Wonderful Thoughts has dies to cut around the stamps, and this "hello" fit perfectly.

So many options for creating beautiful cards with the Floral Delight Suite, which includes the Delightful Wishes stamps and dies as well as the Floral Delight Designer Series Paper (and a few other products that complement these items).  Stamp flowers or cut them out - many possibilities!

Delightful Wishes for a Friend

I have a friend who is going through a very difficult time.  It's not always easy to think of just the right thing to say, but "thinking of you" is always my go-to for these trying times.

I pulled out some cheery yellow and hope this makes her feel a bit of sunshine:

This card could also be filed under my category of "What's on the Desk?"  If you've followed me for awhile, you know that every now and then I rummage through a box of misfit pieces to give new life to these die cuts, labels, or scraps that I had planned to use on other projects, but didn't.

The white frame and the arch in the center are two of those pieces.

I knew I wanted to use yellow.  So I first got out my Floral Delight DSP and chose the Daffodil Delight gingham paper, cutting it to 4-1/8"x 5-3/8".  The Basic White frame (cut with Deckled Rectangle dies) fit over the top perfectly.

Then the arch - I stamped one of the floral stamps from Delightful Wishes (3-step stampin'!) on the front, but I needed a greeting.  I chose "thinking of you" from the Wonderful Thoughts stamp set, and then cut it with the coordinating dies.  Just perfect!  And mounted over a little Daffodil Delight ribbon - LOVE!

What's your go-to greeting for difficult times?
