My 10 Favorite Things in the Holiday Catalog
Now that I've had a chance to play a little bit (not as much as I'd like, as my "real job" has been so busy), I can honestly talk about some of my very favoritist things in the Holiday Catalog. Let's begin: (see images at the bottom of this post)
1. Archival Stampin' Pads in Basic Black and Basic Gray - these are just perfect for getting a nice, clean image and won't run if you want to watercolor your creations. They are not firm foam, but more like our old linen-style pads. The color is true and the stampin' is fabulous!
2. Red Foil Sheets - Wowsa! Stampin' UP! hit it out of the park with these! Gorgeous, shiny and perfect for the holidays! See my post here for a sample.
3. Because I love paper, I have to choose the Black Glimmer Paper as my next fav - Ditto above on hitting it out of the park! This is so sparkly and can be formal (think weddings) or fun (think Halloween). I have a sample coming up for you tomorrow.
4. Sleigh Ride Edgelits - Remember this? Big hit!!! Lovely things we can do with these darling paper cutouts. Again, check out my post tomorrow for another sample.
5. Embellished Ornament Bundle - See #2 above...the stamp set and matching thinlits will make your holidays easy. Get them together and save 15%.
6. Howl-o-ween Treat Bundle - Hot on the heels of the Embellished Ornament Bundle is the Howl-o-ween Treat Bundle. The stamps are adorbs and the framelits are perfection--you even get a bonus "boo".
7. Real Red Envelope Paper - back to paper--I've already used this to create a just-right envelope for my sample in #2 above. I even used a leftover piece for a layer on my card. I've loved the envelope papers since they were first introduced...now I have even more to love!
8. Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - This extra-large embossing folder creates raised birch trees on your paper; a lovely touch for autumn/winter-themed cards. And with Among the Branches stamps, you can create woodland scenes, spooky or peaceful.
9. Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies - Haven't had a chance to play yet, but I'm already envisioning looking through windows to see "in" or "out" scenes.
10. Gold and White Glitter Ribbon - Woo Hoo! More sparkle for your holiday cards. Two rolls of fabby ribbon; one shiny gold and one sparkly white. Guess you'll just have to come back tomorrow to see the sample using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits, Black Glimmer Paper, Boo to You Framelits AND White Glitter Ribbon--all in ONE sample!
Well that's my top 10. I could easily make it a top 20, but figured you'd get tired of reading. Just get into the catalog, and I'm sure you'll be finding your perfect 10 in no time.
All items can be ordered here.

Spoiler Alert! Sneak Peek!
If you love to get your new Stampin' UP! catalogs and sneak off by yourself to squeal with delight, you may want to skip this post. I have a sneak peek for you today.
So if you want to wait to get your very own Holiday Catalog in your hands before seeing anything that's in it, leave now...
OK, fair warning:
There are two new items on this card; can you spot them?
First, of course, is the "moon". This great little set, Among the Branches, is going to be used again and again, starting with Halloween. I masked a 2" circle with a post-it note, and liberally sponged a Halloween sky using Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist, Real Red, Island Indigo, Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy inks. Once done, I removed the mask and stamped the "spooky" moon in Crushed Curry.
But, wait for it:
Do you see those trees? Those are actually cut out with some fabulous new Edgelits! Sleigh Ride features three edgelits that actually cut the edge of your paper, leaving little scenes that can be added to your creations. I used the trees, but there are houses and a sleigh ride (horse and sleigh) too. Eek! This gives all new dimension to your cards!
Watch for more sneak peeks, coming soon. My pre-pre order (that which I was lucky to be able to purchase at Convention) has arrived, and I ordered from the new catalog today, so more to come. I just can't wait to get into my new box of goodies!
Need a Holiday Catalog? My customers get a free copy; watch for it soon. Not a customer? Contact me to arrange delivery of your very own copy.
Great stuff to come!

Got Treats? Round 1
If you visited this site over the weekend you saw the Wacky Watercooler gang showing off projects from the Holiday Catalog, and focusing on the beginning of autumn and the upcoming holidays. I shared treat wrapping and promised to show you how I did it...so here's "round 1".
First a photo of all my Halloween treat holders:
And now some directions:
This is such an easy way to present your treats. Stampin' UP! has some great packaging ideas. I took a Chevron Tag-a-Bag Gift Bag and stamped some little bats from the Project Life Holiday Cheer stamp set all over the front, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
The tag is Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper, cut with the Banners Framelits and my Big Shot. I also cut some Silver Glimmer Paper with the Starburst Framelits. Then I just sticky-stripped a piece of Burlap ribbon (with flagged ends) over the top, and stamped "Fright Night" (also from Project Life Holiday Cheer), coloring in the "night" with a Pumpkin Pie Blendability (love these markers!).
See that great black twine?
It's from the upcoming Paper Pumpkin which I got a sneak peak of at Convention. My tag was attached using an In Color Clothespin in Blackberry Bliss. Couldn't be easier! And oh-so quick!
Check back all week for more gift packaging ideas.
All supplies can be ordered here.
Let's get creating!

Got Treats? Another Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop
Welcome to our September Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop! Whether you started here or hopped over from Stefanie's blog (aren't her projects the cutest?), just hit the "next" button and you can travel all the way around the hop.
This month we are highlighting the upcoming holidays. And what's first? Halloween, of course! I enjoy giving little treats to grandchildren, friends and co-workers and I decided to create some fun ways to present them. So here's a peak (details will be on my blog all next week; please come back):
Stampin' UP! has great gift packaging and I used two--the Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bag and the Decorative Window Gift Boxes.
Stamp, tie and embellish with a cute banner or tag, and you're ready to go! Easy peasy!
Like to craft? Here's a simple little box made from the Gift Box Punch Board:
This started as a 8" x 8" piece of Crushed Curry cardstock. Some Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper, a bow (made with the Gift Bow Bigz L die), some ribbon and a banner finished it off. Perfect for my little Jacob!
Using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch on both ends of a 2" x 11-1/2" strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock gave me enough length to wrap a pack of gum for Isabella. Decorated again with the Motley Monsters DSP and tied up with Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry taffeta ribbon, it makes a sweet gift with a little tag (from Project Life Holiday Cheer and the 7/8" Scallop Circle punch).
My last project was totally handmade--a gift container made from a Stampin' UP! embellishment container:
I decorated the bottom and top rims of the container with Motley Monsters DSP,then rolled up a piece of Window Sheet and Sticky-Stripped it to the inside of the bottom. Love it!. It's all tied up with beautiful Tangelo Twist Stitched Satin Ribbon.
My label stands up, thanks to a little strip of Window Sheet:
Crushed Curry was punched with the 2" circle punch and stamps from Project Life Holiday Cheer and And Many More make up the tag, cut with the Word Bubbles Framelits.
So how do you wrap your Halloween treats?
Check back next week for directions and more photos.
And hop on over to Marsha's blog to see what great items she has to show you. Thanks for visiting!

Starting the Holiday Catalog Parade
Are you ready? The new Holiday Catalog is live and I've been playing with my new toys. Ready for some samples?
First up: Festival of Trees
This set is bound to be a winner. The variety of trees is super, and the accessories (to decorate them) are fun! And with the matching punch, I know you'll enjoy this set! So easy to create.
So here are two samples using different techniques:
Look how cute! I started with s base of Whisper White, but covered the entire front with a piece of Soft Sky which had been run through the Big Shot with the new Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (and punched with the large oval punch). I then made hills with Pear Pizzazz and the beautiful new All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper.
To make the trees, I laid the All is Calm Designer Washi Tape on Whisper White card stock and punched with the Tree Punch. A trunk of Chocolate Chip cardstock was adhered, and my trees were popped up with Dimensionals. So sweet.
Inside I used the plain tree, inked in Pear Pizzazz and Chocolate Chip and stamped off once; then the words were done with Basic Grey ink.
Card number 2 is completely different:
Same stamp set (Festival of Trees, although the sentiment comes from Holiday Home). This beautiful tree was stamped in Mossy Meadow; I used a Blender Pen to remove the ink on the trunk, and colored it with Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker. So pretty!
I used our Kraft cardstock, embossed with the Woodgrain Embossing folder and inked lightly with Soft Suede. Oval framelits cut a nice oval in the Kraft; I also made a frame with Mossy Meadow and adhered it around the oval hole. This was placed over the tree image, then added to a layer of Cherry Cobbler and a Mossy Meadow base.
Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin Ribbon and a popped up sentiment complete the card.
All supplies can be purchased here.
