Under the Moon

Last week at my May Card Club class we made a fun-fold card using the new Under the Moon stamps.  And there was a little technique with the card too.

Do you see that sunrise?  (Or maybe it's a sunset?)  We used two colors of ink on one stamp.  So how did we do it?

I've created a little video so you can see how it's done (along with the way to create the fun-fold card).

I love how these stamps are made to pick up differing amounts of ink, so that even when you use the same color (see the water) it looks like you used a few.  And the attendees loved learning how to add a second color to a stamp using sponge daubers.

I guess we all love this card!

What's on My Desk?

I spent the day cleaning my stamp room.  What a mess it's been!  Between a pre-order, a vacation, products from the new Annual Catalog arriving and prepping for and holding two card classes I had built up a pile of stamped images, die cuts and paper pieces.  It was hard to think about getting crafty with such a mess.

So after straightening and organizing, I found I had a pile of left-over die cuts in a box.  I also had an image cut from the beautiful Mediterranean Blooms designer series paper.  I decided to play.

Here is what I had sitting on my desk:

Grouping everything into the beginnings of a card:

Nice, but what about a background?

Wow!  That pops!  So what about a card base?

Does this look too much like Halloween?  Well, I don't care...going with it!

I ran the black cardstock through my Cut & Emboss machine with the Eyelet embossing folder for a little texture.

Now let's put it all together:

OK, I'm gluing it all together:

And DONE!  I think that was one of the fastest cards I've ever made!  And I love it!  What do you think?

When Country Flowers Meets Rustic Crate

Sometimes stamps sets just seem made for each other.  While perusing my collection of current stamp sets, I had a thought about one older and one new set, Rustic Crate and Country Flowers.  And here is the result:

Now initially I had a different bouquet in the milk jug.  The leaves in the background of my original flowers matched some of those "growing" in the window box.  But the bouquet was a little dinky for the jug.  So I changed them out for this lovely grouping.  Of course, then my idea of how they coordinated flew out the window, but I still like the card. 😄

All the images were stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin' Blends.  Then each was cut with the coordinating dies.

The background paper is one of my new favorites - Country Woods.  This gorgeous collection of wood-themed papers in a variety of colors will go with just about anything!

And of course, I had to bring in two new In Colors - Peach Pie and Pretty in Pink.  Such fun!

Have you found any new stamp sets that seem to be made for an older one?
