A Busy Birthday Month!

August in my family is very busy for card-making.  I have five birthdays and two anniversaries to celebrate.  My granddaughter, Matilyn, just turned 7.  I wanted to create something fun for her to open:

From the outside it appears to be a normal card.  I cut numbers 1-7 from the Birthday Celebrations dies and adhered them to my card layer, used Blending Brushes to spread a little Pretty in Pink ink, then embossed over them with an old Stars embossing folder.  The cake came from the now-retired Attention Shoppers, and the greeting is letter cut with the Mini Alphabet dies.

And inside:

I made a fun-fold, adhering little banners to a strip of paper that is attached at both ends to the inside of the card.  When opened, it pops up:

The Party Banner dies (available in my Online Exclusives store) made great little labels.

This is such a fun way to celebrate a special day!

Happy 7th Birthday, Mattie!

Pretty Florals Fun Fold Card

Today I have a fun-fold card, one that includes 24 pieces!  Yes, I dreamed this up for my card classes last week (and for my Cards-by-Mail) and then had to kick myself for creating a card with SO many pieces!

This is a photo I took as I was prepping my kits and was about half-way done with the die-cutting:

Each little pile consisted of 15 pieces; then I added in the card base, three pieces of designer paper, and a larger flower with leaves.  Whew!

And here is the finished project:

This is a pop-up card - the diamond in the center pops up when the card is opened:

It's really not difficult to create, but I got the idea from Tami White, and I'm including the link to the tutorial here.  She does a great job explaining how to put the card together.

Our cards used the beautiful Woven Textures Designer Paper.  There were three different patterns used for the 26 cards I had to make, so here is another one with a different background paper:

For this one, we stamped the flowers from Pretty Florals and cut them with the coordinating dies.  (As a Stampin' UP! demonstrator, I am not allowed to send stamped images to my Cards-by-Mail folks, so they got the die cut flowers in the first photo).

This is a very fun card to make and not hard at all!  I hope you'll give it a try!

Choose Happy, Day 5

I've come to the end...the end of celebrating Choose Happy this week!  And I've so enjoyed playing with this little stamp set.  So many words and images!  Just a fun set to have available for almost any occasion.

So here's Day 5, a sweet little card that has me dreaming of warmer days (since it's still cold, damp and gray here in Oregon!):

And this came together SO quickly!

I had a white die-cut circle sitting on my desk from another project. So I used my Blending Brushes to add some Azure Afternoon and Balmy Blue ink, then stamped my little sailboat and sun, coloring them with Blends.

I felt it needed some definition to the "water" so I stamped a few waves from Submarine Life, but these could be added with a blue marker too.

A piece of Subtles 6"x6" DSP for the background (stamped with the greeting), tied with some Misty Moonlight ribbon and added to a Misty Moonlight card base, and I was done!

I hope you have enjoyed my week of Choose Happy!  And if so, you might want to check it out, on page 24 of the 2024-25 Annual Catalog.  This idea book is retiring next month, and I suspect the stamp set will too, so get it while you can!
