Treat Packaging, Day 1

Do you give little treats to friends, family, office co-workers or neighbors?  I have a few ideas that I'll share with you over the next few days for inexpensive treat-gifting.

Today's an easy one:

Simply wrap a movie-size box of candy and decorate!  What could be faster?

For this box of Junior Mints (one of my favorite movie treats!), I measured the length of the box, cut a piece of Emerald Envy cardstock to that length and wrapped the box.  I punched two small holes in the front and back of one end of the cardstock so I could feed a piece of Emerald Envy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon through; once done, I slid the box of Junior Mints inside (catching the ribbon with the bottom of the box) and tied the ribbon in a bow.  That way, when the recipient pulls the ribbon, out pops the box of candy!

Next on to the decorating:

The Whisper White cardstock is embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder.  And ornaments from Carols of Christmas were stamped (Emerald Envy, Cherry Cobbler and Lemon Lime Twist) and cut with the coordinating Card Front Builder Dies.  I hand drew a short line for "hanging" the ornaments, then adhered them using Mini Dimensionals.

I made several of these for a local craft fair; someone is going to be very happy when these are opened!

Last Carols of Christmas - For Now

So this is it...Day 5 of my Carols of Christmas introduction, and I've been saving my favorite for last:

Say it with me..."Ooooooo!"

Like the card I shared on Wednesday (see it here), this has a Glossy cardstock layer where I used my "alcohol and reinker dipped cotton ball smushed on the paper" technique.  Familiar with that?  Just take a piece of Glossy cardstock, pour a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball, and drip a few (I used 2-3) drops of reinkers on it, then pounce the cotton ball on the glossy paper.  I started with Emerald Envy, then got a new cotton ball with Tempting Turquoise, and finished with one more cotton ball using Pacific Point ink.  As you "smush" on the glossy paper it begins to blend, and ends up SO pretty!

Now, "pretty" is NOT how I would describe my fingers/nails after doing this technique.  If you don't like inky fingers, you might want to consider holding your cotton ball with a clothespin or wearing rubber gloves.  I like to play with this technique before I shower--I can always get the ink off by washing my hair!  :)  But I digress...

Once my background dried, I took the framelit dies (Card Front Builder dies) and cut some trees with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Let's say it again..."Oooooo"...

The trees are placed on "hills" of Whisper White cardstock, cut with the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  And my deer is Basic Black (like the base of the card), cut with the Card Front Builder dies.

Oh, that greeting...

...stamped with Versamark ink on Basic Black cardstock and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  Then paper snipped into three parts, and mounted directly on the pretty, glossy background, so it looks like it's part of the card base.

Like it?  Please let me know...

Deck the Halls

It's Day 4 of my Carols of Christmas celebration.  I've been sharing cards made from this upcoming release all week.
I love the simplicity of this card.  Using traditional Christmas colors, Real Red and Emerald Envy, this card conveys the spirit of the season.

The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Real Red ink.  I stamped it again in Emerald Envy and carefully snipped "the" for a little contrast.  The Layering Squares framelits came in handy to build a red and green layer to make this the focal point.

The card base is Emerald Envy and I used the Card Front Builder Framelit dies to cut the pattern on the Whisper White layer.  I snuck a smidge smaller piece of Real Red underneath so the pop of color shows through the design around the edge.

I stamped the holly using Emerald Envy and Real Red markers and cut them out with the matching framelits--easy!

This set will be available for you to purchase on August 1.  But if you just can't wait, join my team now and your Starter Kit will have the Carols of Christmas included for FREE!  You can add the Card Front Builder dies as part of your Starter Kit, along with choosing up to $125 worth of products, all for just $99!  And join in July and you'll be eligible for more FREE goodies--Stampin' UP! is throwing in a FREE Essentials Gift Pack including Paper Snips, SNAIL Adhesive, Grid Paper, two D Blocks (one for you and one for a stamping friend!), and a Bone Folder.  That's an additional $52 in FREE product!  What a time to join!
