A Beary Christmas

While stamping my granddaughter's birthday card last week (see it here), I stamped a few extra baby bears (because I goofed up on a few of the cards 😟).  So one was sitting on my desk when I pulled out my new Christmas Quilt goodies, and lo and behold, THIS popped out:

Is that not adorable?  {love}

The Quilted Christmas 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper is absolutely luscious--makes me think of a "down home" Christmas.  Although the main colors are Garden Green and Real Red, there are a few splashes of unexpected hues - Pool Party, Blushing Bride and Lemon Lime Twist - making the paper stack quite a bit more versatile than just for Christmas.  And with the traditional quilt patterns, I know this will be a favorite for holiday cards.

But I just used one piece, the Garden Green plaid.

This little bear had been stamped for a birthday card, but I messed up the sentiment.  Not wanting to waste the bear, I cut it using the Layering Squares Framelits.  But a little part of the messed up sentiment was showing in the corner -- not to worry!  Mistakes are the catalyst of creativity, right?

So I cut a frame, using Garden Green and two sizes of nesting Squares, and popped it up around my Baby Bear with Foam Adhesive Strips.  This framed my bear perfectly!  And that cute little holly berry embellishment is part of the Quilted Christmas Suite--Stitched Felt Embellishments.  Just what was needed in the corner.

And what did I do for the sentiment?  I combined "Have yourself a merry little Christmas" from Christmas Quilt, masking out "merry", and replaced it with "beary", from Baby Bear ("love you beary much!").  Gosh, sometimes I just love myself!

The card base is Garden Green, with a layer of Whisper White.  The sentiment is mounted on Real Red, and I finished with a small heart from the Brights Enamel Shapes.

The new Holiday Catalog is live and ready to receive your order.  How about a little Quilted Christmas with a Baby Bear?

A Baby Bear Birthday

Yes, it's time for the new Occasions Catalog release and today I'm going to showcase a card that's been sitting in pieces on my desk for a few weeks.  Finally got around to putting it together, so here you go:

 Isn't that adorable?

You may have remembered when I did this card last month.  I played a lot with the background colors, finally settling on this; but one iteration had me using Pool Party in the rectangle.  I didn't like it for Christmas, but it had come out so nicely that I kept it in my "box of shattered dreams" (where I keep pieces of cards that never make it to the final version).  I pulled it out when I was playing with Baby Bear, thinking I would make a baby card.

But...I didn't have any babies to celebrate.  And since January is a BIG birthday month in my family, I decided Baby Bear needed to have some balloons to celebrate!

So here are the deets:

Baby Bear was stamped in Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso (I like to go from darkest to lightest colors, as I think it's easier to line up the three layers); I then fussy cut him out.

My card base is Pool Party, cut to 5" x 10" and scored in the middle to make a 5" x 5" card.  A thin layer of Night of Navy borders my Whisper White rectangle with the Pool Party sponged center.  Then Baby Bear is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The sentiment (from Balloon Adventures) was stamped in Night of Navy ink, and the balloons were cut using the new Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Dies; I cut them three times--Perfect Plum, Pool Party and Night of Navy, and then layered them and added a few of the dots and stripes in different colors.

The balloons are also on Dimensionals, and I drew in the strings using a Smoky Slate Stampin' Write Marker.

Wouldn't you love to get a little Baby Bear to celebrate your birthday?

A New Baby (Bear)!

I have a baby card for you today.  We have had some news about a new baby joining our family, and I wanted to welcome him.  Here is my card:

I also wanted to use the new Baby Bear stamp set--it's absolutely charming!  This is a 3-step stamp; you choose your light base color, the medium color and the darker color to add the features (eyes, nose, etc) to the image.  So I started with Crumb Cake and stamped the bear on Whisper White card stock.  The next layer added some fur--this was stamped in Soft Suede.  And I finished the bear with Early Espresso.  So cute!

This year I purchased the fabulous Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, and am determined to use up all 40 sheets of this pretty paper.  So I took the Soft Sky piece, adhered it to a piece of Whisper White (for a little extra heft) and cut it out with a retired label die.

This layer is popped up on Dimensionals, over the stamped piece of white, then they are added to a Soft Sky base.  Very pretty and perfect for a baby boy!  His bow tie is stamped in Soft Sky and hand cut.

Welcome little one!
