Scrappy Mosaic

Remember the Scrappy Strip technique?  You can see a sample that I've done here.

Well today I have another take on the Scrappy Strip; this time I cut my strips and laid them down in a slightly haphazard pattern, offsetting each strip:

 Doesn't this look like a mosaic?  L.O.V.E.!

I started with Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo and Calypso Coral strips, cut on an angle, and adhered them to a piece of Whisper White (you can see the skinny white lines between the colors).  Once I had completely covered the white cardstock, I flipped it sideways and sliced it into 1/2" strips.  Then I started all over again, this time laying each strip onto Basic Black cardstock and offsetting each one so the colors aren't quite lined up.

I had no card in mind when I started this background, so once it was done I had to figure out what to do with it.  And I remembered my niece was having a birthday, and the Dressed to Impress set would be perfect for this fashionista.

What a fun card for a young woman!  Don't you agree?

Final Dressed to Impress

Well I've come to the end of my Dressed to Impress sharing this week; I do hope you've enjoyed my creations and that you're inspired to try some of your own.

For my last day, I have something a little different.  All week I've been showing you cards that I placed in a gift box (video to make this box is here).  Here's a pic of the box and all the cards:

Today I have a 3D project - a purse using the All Dressed Up dies:

The purse die is the cutest!  I cut two of the purse shapes using Lovely Lipstick cardstock and formed the purse (you adhere the two pieces together).  Then, using the die as a stencil, I traced the inside of the die on the back of the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper, and used my Paper Snips to cut it out.  This gave me the perfect floral accent for the front and back of my purse.

I added a little pocket, also cut with the dies; it's embossed with the Subtle embossing folder for a "fabric" look.  And that rose...LOVE!  Stamped and colored with Stampin' Blends, and cut with the coordinating die.

This purse is just the right size to gift some 3" x 3" notecards or a gift card.  Who wouldn't love to get one of these?

Thanks for visiting this week; I've enjoyed showing you Dressed to Impress!

Dressed to Impress, Day 4

Continuing on the Dressed to Impress journey, I have another fun card for you.  This time I used the lipstick from the set, and combined it with one of my favorite techniques, the Scrappy Strip Technique.

Isn't that great?

I started with the scrappy strips, cutting a bunch of "lipstick" colors - Rich Razzleberry, Poppy Parade, Lovely Lipstick, Calypso Coral, Rococo Rose, Grapefruit Grove, Blushing Bride and Flirty Flamingo.  Then I layered them from dark to light on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of cardstock.

Then on a Whisper White Stitched Rectangle, I stamped the lipstick "smear" and the greeting.  The lipsticks were then stamped, colored with Stampin' Blends and cut with the All Dressed Up dies.

Such a fun card for a special lady in your life!
