Pretty Florals and Blooming Phrases

Sometimes all that is needed is a few words and some pretty flowers.  And that's just what I used to make this card:

Oh, and some gorgeous paper!  In fact, the Designer Series Paper is what inspired me.  The new Woven Textures paper is spectacular!  It's photographic quality and has a number of beautiful, subtle patterns.  And you get three each of the double-sided, 12" x 12" paper so you'll have plenty to play with.

I also had the (almost) square of Basic White stamped with "happy birthday" sitting on my desk.  I had stamped this several weeks ago, playing with a new stamp set, Blooming Phrases.  Each word in the set has a long "tail", and you can make an eye-catching card by stamping the words around a piece of paper like I did here.

Then there's the flowers.  No stamping here; just die-cuts using the Pretty Florals dies.  LOVE!

A pretty (simple) card that is elegant and beautiful.  Just the kind I like!

Pretty Florals and Blooming Phrases, along with the Woven Textures DSP, will be available for purchase on May 6th.  Coming up soon!

Sunrise Sailing

Here I go again!

Those darn beach-themed stamp sets - I simply cannot resist!

So I purchased the new Sunrise Sailing bundle (stamps, dies and hybrid embossing folder) and had to play:

This bundle makes me think of the perfect day on the beach (or on the water!), blue skies, calm water and watching a sailboat floating in the distance.

What I love about this set is all the embossing.   The Hybrid embossing folder can emboss a full card front with waves, clouds, birds and a sailboat!

BUT WAIT!  There's more!

Not only will it emboss the paper, it can also cut out elements if you want.  The sailboat die can fit INSIDE the folder and your sailboat will be cut AND embossed at the same time!

OR you can emboss your layer and then stamp over it with a stamp to define the boat (not the sail), or add birds (I stamped over the embossed birds).

I started with Blending Brushes to create the water.  I used Azure Afternoon, Blueberry Bushel and the new Secret Sea, blending the colors.  I also used a touch of Balmy Blue for sky.  Then I ran it all through the embossing folder (without a die) to add the texture.  LOVE!

Next I stamped the boat and colored it with Blends.  I then put the die inside the embossing folder, lined up my boat and ran it through the Cut & Emboss machine, giving me a die-cut boat that is embossed.  This was adhered right over the embossed boat on the blended layer using liquid glue.

And inside:

How cute is that little boat?  EEK!  😍.  I stamped the water and cut out the boat - too adorable!

Sunrise Sailing is a new bundle coming May 6th in the OnLine Exclusives.  If you love beachy cards, you'll want to be sure to get your hands on this!

Do-Over

Do. you ever make something that you love so much you just have to make it again?

I made this card a few weeks ago, and decided to use it for my recent Card Club.  Everyone got a different color background - the striped sheet from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper packs in Subtles, Brights or In Colors.  And the totes on the front were all cut with coordinating colors of DSP's that I had (yes, it was a nightmare for me to prep all these cards in different colors, but SO worth it when I saw the finished cards!).

And this is what we made:

My sample was done with a Bubble Bath background and a tote cut from the new Florals in Bloom patterned paper (available May 6th!).  I used Blackberry Bliss for my accent pieces and the ink color for stamping.

The Notes & Totes stamps/die bundle will be available on May 6th as well, when the new 2025-26 Annual Catalog goes live.  And when adhered to your card, this little tote bag becomes a gift card holder!  Such a fun way to present that gift card.

The greetings used on this card are from two retiring sets, Tune In and Attention Shoppers.  Now would be a great time to purchase these before they disappear forever!  Check out the Last Chance list and pick up your sets.

Fan Card

I've got an interesting card for you today.  This is a Fan Card, which you'll probably know how it got it's name when you take a look:

I saw this demonstrated on Lisa Curcio's page and decided to give it a try.  I must say it is relatively easy, but not for the faint of heart!  😁

The finished card measures 5" x 7" - a whopper of a card, and one that does not fit into a standard envelope.  But if you are fortunate enough to still have an Envelope Punch Board, you can easily make one that fits out of matching Designer Series Paper.

Lisa has a cutting template which I used to cut my papers.  And she has a great video showing you just how to put it together.

I used Old Olive cardstock for the base and Daffodil Delight for the layers and inside.  And the patterned paper is one of my favorites - Floral Delight.

If you haven't seen the Thoughtful Moments hybrid embossing folder, you are missing out!  This great die/embossing folder set cuts and embosses several greetings; I chose "Just Because" as my card will be going to a good friend for no other reason than to say hi!

Inside there is plenty of room to write a message:

Don't you love the way the Basic White layer is angled so you don't see it when the card is closed?  I stamped a little flower using the Delightful Wishes stamps with Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive inks.

If you are up for a little challenge, check out Lisa's website and try creating your own Fan Card.

It's worth the effort, don't you think?
