Falling Leaves

One of our Sunday Crafternoon cards was made with autumn leaves that we colored ourselves:

Following directions from Artisan Demonstrator, Tami Wilson, we used Blending Brushes and inks to add color to Thick Very Vanilla cardstock.  After blending Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive inks we used Water Painters to drip/splash water on the sheet.  Once dry, we used the Autumn Leaves dies to cut some shapes.

Of course, every leaf was different, depending on how each attendee blended their ink colors.

Once cut, we used the leaves for our card.

A greeting was stamped on the Very Vanilla layer, and then it was passed through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with the Exposed Brick embossing folder.

A strip of Old Olive cardstock ties in the top to the second layer.  The leaves were added at random, using Dimensionals for a little "lift".

This lovely card is so versatile; attendees could choose various greetings to say "thank you", "happy birthday", or one like this "thinking of you".

Don't you love "multi-purpose" cards?  I like to keep a stash of them on hand, so I always have a card ready to send.

Missing Someone?

 Are you missing someone?

I have kids and grandkids who live MILES away (like 500 and 1000 miles away!).  I miss them.  And I had an idea.

Darling Details is SO cute!  The stylized flowers, leaves and greenery have many options for creating.  But that little greeting...THAT got me!

I thought it would be fun to create a flower garden, with a missing flower.

And then I had another idea - grass!

The Beautiful Balloons dies has a great die that cuts ribbons.  So I used it with Parakeet Party to create my grass.

The stems and leaves were stamped directly to my Basic White layer, and the flowers were stamped and cut with the coordinating Darling Details dies, then popped up on Dimensionals.

I finished off my card with some now-retired Dragonflies.

But inside:

To compete the thought I stamped a phrase from Very Best Occasions, accompanied by the missing flower.

What do you think?  Can I send this to my kids?

Darling Details stamps and dies are available now.  Click on the pic to add to your shopping cart.

CASEing Gail Ellis

Australian demonstrator, Gail Ellis, is one of my favorite papercrafting artists.  I'm in awe of her eye for color, texture and balance.  So when I saw a few cards she created for the Demonstrator website, I decided to CASE (copy and share everything) one of them.

Her card was a 4" x 4" card, and I changed up a few things, but basically this is a Gail Ellis card (my apologies to Gail, as mine is nowhere near as perfect!).

L.O.V.E.!

This was our "technique" card, as it contains an emboss-resist image and uses Blending Brushes.

We started with two leaf-image stamps from Forever Fern, stamped in Versamark and heat-embossed with White Embossing Powder.

Using Blending Brushes, we added Tahitian Tide, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie inks.  Then we used a Kleenex to rub off any ink on the white images - the embossing "resists" the ink and stays white.

Tahitian Tide was cut with the Basic Borders dies to create an "arrow" pointing at the focal point.  Adhered to Basic White, it was run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine with one of the OnLine Exclusives Basics Embossing Folders.

Our greeting, from Very Best Occasions, was heat-embossed on a Pumpkin Pie banner.

Sweet Perfection!  Thanks, Gail, for the inspiration!  I love this card!

Do you love the polka-dotted background?  You might want to check out the OnLine Exclusives to see the Basics 3D Embossing Folders.  A set of three, you'll love having them in your craft room.
