Happy Sparkles

I love pairing old with new, and this card combines them in a beautiful way.

I had pulled out the gorgeous Fine Shimmer 12" x 12" paper pack, and discovered a partially used piece of Fresh Freesia.  So I decided to use it, cutting it with the large die from Potted Succulents.  This was mounted on a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock to show the contrast, then added to a Fresh Freesia base.

I'm trying to capture the shimmer of this paper - I hope you can catch it!

The rest of the card was super easy!  I merely die cut flowers from the Hues of Happiness patterned paper (the Blossoming Happiness dies matches so many of the flowers in the paper) and added them to a Basic White Layering Circle stamped with a stamp from Happiness Abounds.  Simple, and beautiful!

The Fine Shimmer paper is available in the January - April 2023 Mini Catalog...don't miss it!

Easy Peasy!

Short post today, as I'm putting my craft room back together after a big class.  But one of the cards we made this month was so pretty and SO easy, I just have to show you.

 Does it get much prettier?

This is a piece of the Hues of Happiness designer paper.  It's cut to 3-1/8" x 4-3/8" and mounted on a piece of Night of Navy cut to 3-1/4" x 4-1/2".

The card base is Thick Basic White, and there's one more layer of Basic White, embossed with the Timeless Type embossing folder.

The only embellishment I the little rose - cut from a different pattern in the paper pack using one of the Blossoming Happiness dies.

Show off your pretty papers!  It makes a wonderful, easy, peasy card!

Small Things

Sometimes good things come in small packages.  When I found some little notepads at the Dollar Tree, I knew I could make them pretty:

These pads came 4 to a package, but they were completely plain - probably would have been fine for a guy to keep in his car to note gas mileage, but I like my notepads to be a bit prettier.  What do you think?

I started with a piece of Night of Navy that was just wider than the pad:

Measurements for these are all based on the size of the pad, but you just need to make them slightly wider and about twice as long with an extra 1/2" - 1" more.  You score it twice near the bottom of the pad so it can fold up and the short 1/2" or so folds down over the top.

Then, using a circle die that is just about the same size (or a little larger) than the width of the pad, cut a piece of the same cardstock, then cut the circle in half.  This attaches to the little flap on the top.

I used a small magnet to hold it closed, adding one with a Mini Glue Dot to the top flap, and the other under the pretty paper on the front.

Then it's time to decorate, using some patterned paper (I used Hues of Happiness here) for the front and the flap (cut a second circle, slightly smaller for the flap).  I also added a label with a greeting from Go To Greetings, and a lovely stamped and colored flower from the Happiness Abounds stamp set.

Once done, these can be wrapped in a cellophane bag and tied up with a ribbon, making a pretty present.

I love gifting these to my customers and neighbors.

Take a look in your local store for little items to decorate; your friends will be amazed!

Pretty Wrap

Have you ever thought about using your patterned paper to wrap a gift?  I recently had one for a customer and did this:

I had gifted a wonderful customer a set of dies.  The gorgeous Hues of Happiness 12" x 12" paper was a perfect fit!

It was so nice to work with too, holding a crease at the edges and folding really nicely.

Once wrapped, I used some of the Starry Sky 1/8" Metallic Woven Ribbon to tie it up.

I cut two Tailor Made Tags in Basic White, tying them to the package with the ribbon.  Then I used the Blossoming Happiness dies to cut two of the flowers and the leaves directly from the designer paper - I love that many of the dies can be used on the DSP!

This came out so pretty I almost hated to give it away!  😁  But I did...

Next time you have a small gift to give, why not try some designer paper to wrap it up?
