When Paper is all You Need

Sometimes you just have to let the paper do the talking:

I had a piece of the new Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper on my desk and knew I had to use it for a card.  It was a 4-1/4" x 6" piece, and it was talking to me.

So I set out to make a taller-than-usual card so I could get as much of the design on the card as possible.  Hence a 4-1/4" x 6" card.

I started with Mossy Meadow, two pieces cut 4-1/4"  wide.   One piece was 7" long, scored at 1", and the other was just a hair under 6" long.  I placed the 6" piece under the flap on the 7" piece, adhering it to make a long card.  Then I covered the front (where the flap showed) with the green piece of coordinating DSP.

The patterned DSP was mounted to Blackberry Bliss and I wrapped some Old Olive Bakers Twine around it before adhering it to the card front.

The rose is from Healing Hugs, stamped in "second generation" Blackberry Bliss (stamp off once before stamping the image on Whisper White).  I fussy cut it with Paper Snips.

I turned to Well Said and Well Written for the sentiment, on a new Stitched Nested Label.  The butterfllies are also from Well Written.  (Like this set?  Be sure to order before June 4 and save 10% on the bundle.  These products will not be sold together in the new catalog.)

So pretty.

And for the inside:

Another stamped off rose with the words stamped in full strength Blackberry Bliss.

You're going to love Perennial Essence!  Such a beautiful collection of designer papers!

And you can get your own pack starting Tuesday, June 4th.

Beautiful Birthday

I've been so busy!  The past few weeks have been overwhelming with holiday preparations, classes and birthdays!  Yes, I said birthdays.  It just isn't right that people are born at this time of year...😂.  There is far too much to do, and then I have to make a birthday card!?!

But I found a beauty!  Tammy Beard, a Stampin' UP! demonstrator who has a blog that I occasionally visit, had a lovely template for a differently-folded card, and I decided to try it.  Take a look:

This unique fold really lets the gorgeous paper shine!

I had some Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper that I hadn't really used.  So THIS was the time!

Starting with a 5-1/2" x 12" piece, I scored it at 2", 4", 8" and 10".  The paper was folded on the 4", across the front, then back on the 2"; this was repeated on the other side, folding across the front on the 8" score line, and then back on the 10".

What gives the card the beautiful diamond pattern is trimming the corners off the top on each side (measure down to 2-3/4" along the edge and trim from that point to the score line (either the 2" or the 10").  Then flip the paper over and adhere the corner trimmings to the bottom (see the rose pattern on the bottom corners in the photo above?).

The rest is simple:  I used the lovely rose from Healing Hugs, stamped with Berry Burst ink (stamped off once so it is lighter) on Whisper White card stock.  This is stamped over with full-strength Fresh Fig, using a sentiment from the upcoming Humming Along (snack peek -- to be released on January 3rd).  It's cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits, and layered on a piece of Fresh Fig card stock trimmed with the Layering Circles Framelits.

And inside?

Fresh Fig and Whisper White, stamped with a phrase from Beautiful You in Fresh Fig.

Such a pretty card!

Are you a paper-hoarder, like me?  This is a perfect way to use that beautiful paper and let the designs from both sides show.  The only question is, which side will be the outside?

Heartfelt Hugs

After creating a card for my Wednesday's "What's On the Desk" last week, I decided to use a similar layout for my June Card Clubs.  Take a look:

The rose from Healing Hugs was stamped twice in Highland Heather, stamped off once, as was the leaves.  Then we stamped another set using Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green, and fussy cut them.

The Whisper White panel got some special ribbon treatment with the Gorgeous Grape Mini Striped Ribbon, and then was adhered to a skinny layer of Gorgeous Grape.  The card base is Thick Whisper White.

Everyone got to choose their own sentiment; mine was also from Healing Hugs, and will be going to a special friend.

If you'd like to make one of these cards, click on the photos below to place your order for everything needed.
